Kite making technology is one of the national intangible cultural heritages.

Kite-making skill is a traditional skill in Weifang, Nantong, Xizang Autonomous Region, Lhasa, Beijing and Tianjin, and it is one of the national intangible cultural heritages.

Kites appeared in the Eastern Zhou, Western Zhou, Spring and Autumn Period in China, and were called the earliest human aircraft. After the development of Han, Tang, Song and Yuan Dynasties, it has a long history and is the representative of Chinese traditional handicrafts.

On May 20th, 2006, the kite-making skills in Weifang, Nantong, Xizang Autonomous Region, Lhasa, Beijing and Tianjin were approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists.

The historical origin of kite-making technology;

Kite making has a long history in China, and its origin can be traced back to the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. Mozi and Lu Ban made bird-like instruments out of wood, which can fly and are called "wooden kites". In the Han Dynasty, bamboo sticks were tied into a bird-like skeleton and pasted with paper, which was called "paper kite". Later, bamboo whistle and bowstring were tied to the kite, which was called "kite" because it sounded like a kite because of the wind.

The use of kites has changed many times in history. According to historical records, kites were originally used for military purposes.

By the middle of the Tang Dynasty, the society had entered a stage of prosperity and stability, and the function of kites began to shift from military use to entertainment. At the same time, due to the development of the paper industry, the materials used to make kites have changed from silk to paper. Kites are gradually moving towards the people, and the types are also enriched.
