The content of premarital examination is divided into three parts, namely, asking medical history, doing general examination and laboratory examination.

Asking about medical history

Ask about the past medical history of both parties, focusing on sexually transmitted diseases, leprosy, mental illness, infectious diseases, diseases of vital organs and urogenital system, mental retardation and other diseases closely related to marriage and childbearing, as well as family members' genetic disease history, close relatives' marriage history and sexual life history.

General physical examination

Including general physical examination and examination of reproductive organs and secondary sexual characteristics.

Chest X-ray, blood routine, urine routine, hepatitis B, gonorrhea and syphilis are the necessary items for laboratory examination. If necessary, semen examination, karyotype analysis and EEG examination should be done.

The main diseases of premarital medical examination include: serious hereditary diseases, designated infectious diseases, related mental diseases and other diseases related to marriage and childbirth.

Inspection result processing

After the marriage check-up, if no abnormal conditions affecting marriage and childbearing are found, the marriage qualification certificate can be issued to the parties concerned, and the registration of marriage can be granted. However, if abnormalities are found, they will be guided and dealt with according to the severity of the situation, or marriage is forbidden, or disease treatment is suggested first, or marriage is allowed but fertility is not allowed or restricted, which varies from person to person, so as to ensure the happiness and health of the parties after marriage and reduce birth defects.
