A Chen Bin Scholar's Feelings of Local China and Cultural China

In 20 12, the urbanization rate of China reached 52%, and the rural areas of China were marching into the cities of China at an unprecedented speed. However, it is worth noting that in China, a vast land once accompanied by the vigorous development of agricultural civilization, an average of 80- 100 natural villages disappear every day, and almost every 1 hour, four rural schools disappear. China's countryside contains the DNA of Chinese civilization, rich historical information and cultural landscape, which is the greatest legacy of China's farming civilization. However, with the development of society, the primitiveness of villages and the culture attached to them are rapidly disintegrating, so it is urgent to protect traditional villages in China.

In the past 30 years of reform and opening up, every village in China has staged a scene in which farmers abandon their agriculture to go to cities and abandon their fields to work. The process of urbanization in China is irreversible, and it will only show a faster and larger trend. In this irreversible process, what are the opportunities and challenges for the protection and development of villages? It is not only a major academic problem, but also a major practical problem, which must be answered clearly in theory and academia to guide practice.

Since 200 1, Professor Chen Bin has measured the ancient villages in various cities and counties in Fujian Province with his feet and compiled the Archives of Ancient Villages in Fujian Province in detail. 20 13 began to write the book "Saving Lost Villages-New Thinking of Cultural Industry in the Process of Urbanization". Borrowing the analytical framework of "three-dimensional transformation", the book puts forward the "three-dimensional connotation" of urbanization with all-round analytical thinking, that is, the regional transfer from rural areas to cities and towns, the occupational change from agriculture to non-agricultural industries, and the identity change from farmers to citizens, and discusses the basic ideas for the protection and development of traditional villages under this overall trend. The value of this book lies in clearly pointing out that scientific and healthy urbanization must have solid industrial support, effectively alleviating the sharp conflict between traditional cultural protection and modernization mode with the help of cultural and creative industries, and organically combining urbanization construction with ancient village protection. By integrating the cultural resources of ancient villages, introducing cultural and creative institutions and entrepreneurs, we will develop cultural tourism, cultural and creative SOHO, cultural leisure, folk experience, sightseeing agriculture and organic agriculture. It can form a cultural industrial chain with rural characteristics, increase farmers' income, provide public services and realize local urbanization. This is to solve the dilemma between the protection of traditional villages and the right of villagers to get modern development opportunities, and find a feasible solution. This contribution to methodology is the feature and value of this book.

More importantly, Professor Chen Bin not only stays at the theoretical level in the protection of ancient villages, but also devotes himself to the practice of the protection and development of ancient villages. From June 2065438 to June 2003, Professor Chen Bin and Professor Sun Jianhua, the founder of Notino International in Athens and vice president of the Interior Design Branch of China Architectural Society, rented hundreds of ancient buildings in Zhongshan Village, Changtai County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, and Hung-chien Village, jiao mei zhen, a Taiwanese investment zone in Zhangzhou (the great-grandfather of Philippine President Aquino was born in Hung-chien Village) to discuss how to use the laws of cultural and creative industries for protection and development.
