Introduction of Jinnan Wei Feng Gongs and Drums
The Jinnan Mighty Drums and Gongs is a traditional folk percussion music which was born and popularized in Linfen, Shanxi Province, and the first batch of it was selected into the list of national intangible cultural heritages. Because it is played in many different ways and is very powerful, it is called the "mighty wind gongs and drums". They appear in the folklore during festivals, harvest celebrations, rallies and parades. The Weifeng gongs and drums are an ancient Han folk art form, which began to be played in the Yao and Shun era, more than 4,000 years ago. Simple, elegant, pure and beautiful, the Wei Feng gongs and drums contain strong artistic charm and infectious force, and are the classics of Chinese drum music, with aesthetic characteristics in four aspects: form, sound, music and performance. In the development of history, absorbing the essence of drum music art in different times, it has finally developed into the magnificent, impassioned, bold and majestic "the first drum in the world" that we see today. The Jinnan Weifeng Drums and Gongs is a traditional Han Chinese percussion art form played by four instruments***same as gongs, drums, cymbals and cymbals in Linfen. The gongs and drums are mainly distributed in the Jinnan area of Shanxi Province, especially in Huozhou City, Hongdong County and Fenxi County of Linfen City, where they are most widely circulated. The drums sound like thunder, the cymbals sound clear and crisp, the gongs sound boring and majestic, so it is called Wei Feng Gongs and Drums. Huozhou is the hometown of Huofeng gongs and drums, Huozhou Huofeng gongs and drums have the reputation of "the first drum in China". 2006 May 20, Jinnan Huofeng gongs and drums approved by the State Council included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
