Qinqiang Opera (traditional theater of Northwest China)
Qinqiang Opera (秦腔), also known as Bang Bang Opera (梆子腔), is a traditional theater of Northwest China, and is one of the intangible cultural heritages of the country.
Anciently, the area around Shaanxi and Gansu belonged to the state of Qin, so it was called "Qin Opera". It is also known as "Bang Bang Cavity" because of the common use of jujube wood clappers for accompaniment during the early performances of Qin Cavity.
After the Qinqiang took shape, it spread all over the country, and because of its mature and complete performance system, it had different degrees of influence on different kinds of dramas, and directly influenced the Bangqiang to become the ancestor of Bangqiang. The performance techniques of the Qinqiang are simple, rough and bold, rich in exaggeration, with a strong sense of life and a wealth of skills.
On May 20, 2006, it was approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. Intangible Cultural Heritage Number: Ⅳ-16.
