How to treat nationality, tradition and foreign culture

On the one hand, we should look at China from the perspective of the world, so as to surpass the traditional culture of China. Putting China under the background of economic globalization and re-examining China's traditional culture will not rest on its laurels and dialectically analyze its advantages and limitations. On the other hand, we should look at the world based on China's national conditions, learn from and integrate foreign cultures, and actively participate in the process of world civilization. To learn foreign culture is to make a choice of foreign things that is in line with the characteristics of China, starting from the basic national conditions of China. Therefore, we should treat traditional culture and foreign culture like this:

First, inheritance and innovation: carry forward the excellent traditional culture of our nation. Traditional culture is a relatively stable cultural form formed and developed by the Chinese nation in ancient China society, and it is the crystallization of the wisdom of the Chinese nation. For traditional culture: (1) We can neither completely deny it, nor completely revive it, let alone cut off history, but should respect history and national cultural traditions. (2) We must make a choice, and we must not let feudal and decadent things prevail in society, nor can we let excellent cultural traditions be lost. We should apply the outstanding achievements of tradition to the new era and solve the problem of making the past serve the present. (3) We should not be confined to traditional things, but must innovate, develop and break through. (4) Looking to the future, connecting tradition, present and future, and facing the world and future on the basis of transcending tradition.

Second, reference and creation: the exchange of traditional culture and foreign culture. Our Chinese nation not only created splendid traditional culture with its own wisdom and talent, but also made great contributions to the development of world culture. At the same time, it is also a useful part that is best at critically absorbing and drawing lessons from all foreign cultures in its own cultural activities. (1) Put traditional culture and foreign culture on an equal footing. The attitude of completely accepting foreign culture is actually an unequal state of putting foreign culture above one's own culture. This phenomenon is formed by blind worship caused by one-sided understanding of the development process of foreign culture, and it is the oppression and bondage of ignorance and unrealistic. (2) Good at analysis. In the face of foreign culture, we must adhere to our unique values and national self-confidence, absorb with our wisdom and integrate with our determination in the process of absorption. Eager to integrate and absorb will inevitably sacrifice their own culture. So it's important to keep your own cultural characteristics. In fact, there is no good or bad culture in any country. As long as this culture is suitable for the development and progress of this country, it must be carried forward and supported. (3) Learn from foreign progressive cultures and actively participate in the process of world civilization. Culture is the common wealth of mankind, and the cultures of all nationalities in the world are developed and perfected by learning from each other and learning from each other's strengths, which is the law of cultural development. To learn from and integrate foreign progressive cultures is to make a choice of foreign things that is in line with China's characteristics from the basic national conditions of China. (4) clear understanding. First of all, we should have a clear understanding of foreign culture, especially western culture. If we can't use them, we shouldn't consider the long-term consequences. We should be wary of some forces with ulterior motives using so-called advanced culture or fashionable pop culture to realize our "peaceful evolution". It sounds a little "left" but it does exist. It is an indisputable fact that the so-called "sexual openness" in the West has spread rapidly in China and has evolved into a characteristic of China. China's repressed humanity for many years is beyond the reach of its founders.

Third, promote the transformation of human culture in the blend of strong culture and weak culture. Cultural transformation is the "renewal" or "revival" of culture and the inevitable product of cultural blending. It is not only a blend of foreign culture and traditional culture, but also a blend of strong culture and weak culture or micro culture. Cultural transformation is only the renewal and evolution of the original culture, rather than producing a completely independent and brand-new culture different from the original culture. Cultural transformation is not a simple cultural substitution and undifferentiated unity. Cultural transformation is an inherent creative transformation. In other words, a specific nation or social culture questions and criticizes itself and takes corresponding measures to complete its internal creation and transformation into strength. In the course of human history, the cultural transformation of those nations and societies that take the lead in entering a new era of civilization will appear in the form of self-denial and innovation.
