Anshun batik printing process

Anshun batik printing process is divided into six steps: plate making, wax boiling, wax drawing, dyeing, dewaxing and dyeing.

1. Design and plate making: First, design the picture on the drawing paper, with simple patterns, few details and strong overall feeling. Then, cover the design draft with sulfuric acid paper, draw the outline line with a pencil, and punch holes in the plate along the line with a needle.

2. Wax boiling: mix paraffin and beeswax, adjust the temperature after all boiling, and keep the wax liquid at about 60℃.

3. Wax painting: according to the design draft, draw on the cloth with a wax knife or a funnel pen dipped in wax liquid. Generally, the main patterns are mostly left blank for dyeing, and the rest are covered with a brown brush dipped in wax liquid. After solidification, the wax liquid will be uncovered and folded naturally or properly, resulting in beautiful ice lines. Wax painting is mainly based on the combination of line and surface.

4. Dyeing: firstly, evenly mix the dye with a small amount of cold water, and put it into warm water at 30℃-40℃ with the ratio of 1: 20- 1: 40. Then start dyeing. After half an hour, take out the dye and dry it.

5. dewaxing: put the dye into a metal basin filled with boiling water. The water temperature in the basin should be kept at about 80℃, and a small mouth can be opened at the edge of the basin. Because the wax liquid is lighter than water, it can naturally flow out from the small mouth at the edge of the basin, or it can be taken out in another container and naturally cooled and recovered.

6. Take out the waxed dye, wash it thoroughly with clear water, then cook it with 1: 40 soap solution for 5- 10 minutes, then wash it with clear water, dry it and iron it.
