What's the difference between underglaze, underglaze and underglaze?

Porcelain decoration in Jingdezhen can be roughly divided into two categories: over-glaze color and under-glaze color. What are "over glaze color" and "under glaze color"? We say "over-glaze color" and "under-glaze color" can clearly explain the two main and different methods used in ceramic color decoration. In the past, overglaze color was called "surface painting" and underglaze color was called "inner painting". However, there are significant differences in their modulation, application and calcination. Overglaze color is fired on the glaze surface, and its firing temperature is much lower than that of underglaze color (700-850℃)-the product can be fired to a red-hot state, and its performance is almost unaffected by glaze composition. On the contrary, underglaze color must reach a certain high temperature (generally above 1250℃) to produce its due effect. Colorants of underglaze colors are often mixed in fusible frits, which are firmly combined with utensils during calcination, so the colorants of underglaze colors do not need to be mixed in frits, but they need enough fire resistance to meet their needs, and often need to be fired at high temperature.

Underglaze colors include blue and white, underglaze colors and underglaze red. Blue-and-white is a kind of ceramic painting decoration, which is made by using pearlite material containing cobalt as an underglaze colorant, coating it on the blank, covering it with transparent glaze, and firing it in a kiln at high temperature (1300℃).

Under-glaze color, also called kiln color in Jingdezhen, is a painting method of high-temperature firing of under-glaze color. The color of kiln change has concentrated the specialties of various expression methods, and the comprehensive application of different methods such as dot, washing and dyeing, hook, painting and white line has achieved good results. At present, there are dozens of colors used in underglaze multicolor, such as brilliant black, grass green, navy blue, golden tea, agate red, purple, big green, dark green, blue green and yellow.

Under-glaze color is not only used for household porcelain, but also for display porcelain.

Underglaze red is a kind of color in underglaze color painting, also known as "underglaze red". Underglaze red appeared shortly after blue and white began. Its production is caused by Jun kiln purple erythema glaze. Glazed red was popular in Yuan Dynasty. At that time, blue and white with purple was underglaze red.

Underglaze red was originally underglaze color, but it is not included in underglaze color now; This is because underglaze red begins before underglaze multicolor. After its appearance, it has been popular for a long time and has a unique traditional style. Red usually represents auspiciousness and wealth, which is a traditional custom in China. Therefore, underglaze red has long been deeply loved by the masses. The color of underglaze red is red but not fresh and unpretentious, which is also a factor deeply loved by the masses.
