What is the custom in Kunshan?
The custom of Kunshan is Kunqu Opera, formerly known as "Kunshan Tune", which is an ancient Chinese opera tune and genre, and is now called "Kunqu Opera". Kunqu Opera is one of the oldest traditional operas of the Han nationality, and it is also a treasure in the traditional culture and art of the Han nationality in China, especially in the art of opera. It is called "Orchid in a Hundred Flowers Garden".
Kunqu Opera originated in Kunshan, Suzhou, China in the14th century, and was later improved by Wei Liangfu and others and spread to the whole country. Since the middle of Ming Dynasty, it has dominated China's drama for nearly 300 years. Kunqu Opera, which combines song and dance with martial arts, is famous for its elegant rhetoric, euphemistic lines and superb performances. It is one of the operas under the southern opera system and is known as the "ancestor of 100 operas". In Kunqu Opera, drums and banquets control the singing rhythm. Qu Di and Sanxian are the main accompaniment instruments, and their singing pronunciation is "Zhongzhou Rhyme".
