Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a technique that combines artificial respiration and extra-cardiac massage, and is used for first aid when breathing and heartbeat stop.

For all cases of respiratory arrest and cardiac arrest caused by drowning, heart disease, hypertension, car accident, electric shock, drug poisoning, gas poisoning and foreign body blocking the respiratory tract, cardiopulmonary resuscitation can be used to keep brain cells and organs and tissues from necrosis before the arrival of doctors.

Basic knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Step a

Let the patient lie on a flat place. First responders usually stand or kneel on the patient's right side. Put his left hand on the patient's forehead and press it back hard. Put his right finger on the edge of his jaw and lift his head up and forward.

Let the patient look up, make the axis of the patient's mouth and throat in a straight line, prevent the tongue from blocking the airway, and keep the airway unobstructed.

Step b

Mouth-to-mouth blowing is artificial respiration. The rescuer presses the jaw down with his right hand, opens the patient's mouth, pinches the nostril with his left thumb and forefinger, seals the outside of the patient's mouth with his lips, and rescues the patient with moderate intensity according to the blowing volume of 800 ml per minute 12 times.

After a puff of smoke, the rescuer looked up and took a deep breath, and at the same time released his left hand. Continue the next insufflation according to the previous step until the patient breathes spontaneously.

Blowing should not be too long, and the time should not be too long, so as not to cause acute gastric dilatation. At the same time, observe whether the patient's airway is clear and whether his chest is swollen.

Step c

Chest compression. The rescuer is on the patient's right. The root of the left palm is placed on the lower sternum of the patient's chest, and the right palm is pressed on the back of the left hand. Hands and fingers tilted, not touching the patient's chest wall, arms straight, elbow joint not bent. Press down with the shoulder to form pressure, and press down the sternum by 4 cm to 5 cm (children 1 cm to 2 cm).

The pressing position should not be too low to avoid damaging the liver, stomach and other internal organs. The pressure should be appropriate, too light to promote blood circulation; Being overweight can cause sternal fracture, pneumothorax and hemothorax.

Steps b and c should be carried out simultaneously. After pressing for 30 times, do artificial respiration twice. Usually, a rescue cycle is three rounds, that is, 90 compressions and 6 artificial breaths.

After 30 minutes of rescue, if the patient's pupil changes from big to small, he can breathe spontaneously, his heartbeat recovers and cyanosis subsides. He can be regarded as successful.

Conditions for terminating cardiopulmonary resuscitation: spontaneous breathing and pulse have been restored; There are medical staff present; After cardiopulmonary resuscitation lasted for one hour, the injured person's pupils dilated and fixed, his heart beat and his breathing did not recover, indicating that his brain and heart died.
