Cattle usually swallow into rumen in a hurry after eating feed, and usually go back to their mouths to chew carefully at rest. Food returns to the mouth from the stomach, chews, mixes saliva and swallows again. This digestive activity is called rumination. Cattle generally ruminate at 0.5- 1 hour after feeding, and ruminate about 6-8 times a day and night. The average duration of each rumination is 40-50 minutes, and the next rumination begins after a pause.
First, the cow's stomach ruminates.
1. When cattle eat, the feed is generally swallowed into the rumen without full chewing, and usually goes back to the mouth to chew it carefully at rest. This unique digestive activity is called rumination. Rumination can be divided into four stages: food returns from the stomach to the mouth, chewing, mixing saliva, and then swallowing. Rumination is a unique digestive reflex activity of ruminants.
2. Generally, after feeding, cows start ruminating for 0.5- 1 hour. The average duration of each rumination is 40-50 minutes, and each food ball returned to the mouth chews 40-70 times on average, and then ruminates intermittently for the second time. This ruminates about 6-8 times a day and night, and the number of calves is more. Cattle ruminate for about 6-8 hours every day.
3. If the number of ruminants is reduced, the time is shortened, and the number of chewing balls is reduced, it may be a weak phenomenon, or it may be food accumulation in the rumen, relaxation of the forestomach, flatulence, or diseases such as poisoning, metabolic diseases and encephalopathy, which need to be discovered and treated as soon as possible.
Second, what are the local remedies for rumen food accumulation in cattle?
1. Garlic is used to treat rumen food accumulation in cattle. Take 500-1000g of garlic, peel and mash it, and mix it with 200g of Chinese liquor for cattle to take orally, or take 50g of garlic seed150g, peel and mash it, grind 60g of radish seed into powder, add appropriate amount of sesame oil, and then take orally by cattle. The effect of treating rumen food accumulation in cattle is obvious.
2. When cattle accumulate food, rumen peristalsis decreases or slows down. Peristalsis-promoting therapy can be used to promote rumen peristalsis, accelerate digestion and absorption, and inject 300-500ml 10% hypertonic sodium chloride intravenously to stimulate rumen peristalsis.
3. Feeding cattle with 1 kg magnesium sulfate or sodium sulfate, adding 1 liter water and then adding 1 liter vegetable oil can accelerate the excretion of accumulated food in rumen.
4. Massage the rumen on the left calf with the palm of your hand for 5- 10 minutes each time and 30 minutes each time. Combined with drinking plenty of warm water, the effect is better.
