What is the doctrine of Juexin in The Family?

As the eldest grandson of the Gao family, Gao Juexin's special position in the family contributed to his unique character traits in that era. He was a progressive thinker and a stereotypical behavioral figure who was both an "accomplice" and a victim of the feudal order. Growing up in a big feudal family, JUEXIN was first nurtured by traditional Chinese culture, with Confucianism as the core, which played a great role in the formation of JUEXIN's character and created his sadness. When he encountered difficulties, although he had the ability to accept advanced thinking, under the complicated family background, as the eldest son, he would have to first follow the principle framed by the traditional feudal thinking, filial piety comes first. It was also due to this that a series of tragedies were brewed, causing him a lifetime of suffering.

China is a civilization with thousands of years of history of etiquette, and its cultural thinking is far-reaching, which should be considered the most far-reaching influence of Confucianism, up to the Spring and Autumn Period, the founder of Confucianism, Confucius proposed the main "benevolence" advocate "rites", and the "rites", the "rites", the "rites", and the "rites", and the "rites", and the "rites". During the Spring and Autumn Period, Confucius, the founder of the Confucian school, advocated the principle of "benevolence" and "propriety"; during the Warring States Period, Mencius advocated the "Five Ways" and "benevolent government", which were the orthodox inheritance and development of Confucianism; and in the later part of the Western Han Dynasty, Dong Zhongshu put forward the principle of In the late Western Han Dynasty, Dong Zhongshu put forward the policy of "dismissing all schools of thought and

exclusively respecting Confucianism", advocating the political operation of "Confucianism to decorate the affairs of officials", and Confucianism began to marry with politics, and Confucianism has been occupying an important position in China's history for thousands of years since then.

Traditional Chinese culture has been passed down from generation to generation, the most important way should be to "family culture" as the core, to be carried forward, the family, is the cell of society, the so-called Qi Jia ruling the country and leveling the world, first of all, "Qi Jia", the family is just as a In a sense, whether the family culture can be carried forward is reflected in the "eldest son", "Jiexin" is the main character in Ba Jin's realist work "Home", as the feudal family's "eldest grandson", "the eldest son of the eldest family", "the eldest son of the eldest family", "the eldest grandson of the eldest family", "the eldest grandson of the eldest family", "the eldest grandson of the eldest family". As the "eldest grandson" of the feudal family, he shoulders the historical mission for the prosperity of the whole family, but the historical period in which he lives (the "May Fourth" new trend of thinking) awakens in him a soul that yearns for revolt, and this is how a person of typical significance, with a "dual" character, is created in the history of modern literature. This is what made him a tragic figure with a "double character" in the history of modern literature.

One, the sadness under the shackles:

1, people do not live in a vacuum, Jiexin grew up in a large feudal family, first of all, was subjected to the cultivation of traditional Chinese culture, with Confucianism as the core of the traditional Chinese culture, the formation of Jiexin's character played a great role in the formation of the sadness of the creation of him. When he encountered difficulties he had to follow the principle framed by the feudal traditional thinking, filial piety first. He always obeyed the arrangement of the High Old Master, who was the symbol of the supreme ruler, regardless of whether the arrangement was accurate or not.

Juexin is not only a full-fledged character in Ba Jin's novels, but also a product of traditional feudal culture. He was y poisoned by feudal ethics, especially the poison of filial piety, which took away the lives of many people close to him. How many of the people close to him were dear to him?

Meifen and Juexin, childhood sweethearts, have always had a good relationship, and they have beautiful aspirations for their relationship. Mei Fen hoped that her beloved first cousin could bring her lifelong happiness, but she was wrong, Juexin had such a heart but also did not have such a guts, he was a typical filial son nurtured by feudal and traditional thinking, it was impossible for him to go against any decision made to him by a parent, he did not have a single word of defiance and did not have the thought of defiance, he just nodded his head meaningfully to show that he was obedient to his father's meaning. It is particularly noteworthy that he is also a guardian of feudal and traditional ideas.

He was always bound to the authority of his elders, and sometimes he didn't even understand what he wanted, but just followed what others decided for him, including marriage, future, and even human life.

He was forced to give up Mei Fen and marry a woman he didn't like, and as a result, Mei Fen married a man she had never met and was widowed in less than a year, and her unenlightened mother made her daughter suffer all the hardships of life. Juexin's gentle nod buried the beautiful destiny of two people, destined to live a lifetime of painful suffering.

He was a faithful advocate of feudalism, and he always wanted to do everything perfectly, he preferred to sacrifice his own interests rather than offend his elders, just in accordance with the program set up for him to carry out his running work, including his wife, also became the object of manipulation, thus cutting short her young life. At this point, he should have had every reason and responsibility to protect his beloved wife, but he couldn't even do that, and his blind obedience not only buried his wife's life, but also was an irrational program run that he plunged himself into the abyss of pain.

2. The core of the Chinese family patriarchal system is the system of succession, where the eldest son and grandson are the orthodox heirs of a particular family, and "Jiexin", as the "eldest grandson" of the Gao family, decided his extraordinary status from birth, and doomed him to a lifetime of sad fate. The first is the "first" of the "first" of the "first" of the "first" of the "first".

Because of his position, coupled with his education, the heavy cross of the old consciousness has worn out his vitality and edges, resulting in his weak and submissive character. This is how JUEXIN is described in the Little Book: "Gao Juexin was the man whom Jiemin's brothers called "Big Brother". Although he and Jue Min and Jue Hui were born of the same mother and lived in the same family, they were not in the same situation. Jetsun was the eldest son of this family and the eldest grandson of the eldest family in the extended family. Because of this, his fate was decided when he was born." In that case, he was the one who was destined not to be able to think with his own head.

He had a clear face and had been intelligent since childhood, loved by his parents at home and praised by his teachers at the private school. Those who saw him said that he would be a great man in the future. He grew up in a loving environment. He was very interested in chemistry and planned to continue his education in a famous university in Shanghai or Beijing after graduation, and he also wanted to study in Germany. His mind was full of beautiful fantasies. But his ideas could only stay in his mind, his father's words decided his life's destiny, everything came too suddenly, even if there are a thousand thousand reluctance in his heart, as the eldest grandson of the Gao family, he was born to lose the ability to fight back, he is only as a typical filial son of the whole world, all he can do is to listen to the symbol of the ruling class of the Gao! Old Master's arrangement of everything. The marriages, future prospects and so on of the younger generation are just a word from the elder, which is the highest instruction of a family, and as long as there is still a breath left in the body, it is still capable of maiming lives even after death. Jiexin was unable to preserve his wife even after the death of Elder Master Gao.

3, the influence of the May Fourth New Thought, so that China's traditional culture for the first time by the strong impact of Western culture, the two types of Chinese and Western cultural information two-way exchanges of exclusion, merging and thus bursting with brilliant youthful light of the special cultural environment, creating JUEXIN on the impact of the mind, so that the pain and suffering in the confusion of wandering in the sad.

While growing up in an old feudal family, Jiexin was imbued with more traditional feudal thinking, but also because he lived in a special period when new ideas were injected into the old society, he was influenced by two systems of thought at the same time, and there were too many differences between the two systems of thought, and he often hovered on the brink of agony as a result. He accepted the new Western thinking in theory, but in action he remained attached to his old family ways, so that he compromised and succumbed in the face of authoritarianism and oppression.

Or to look at the same issue from another angle, he lived in such an old feudal family that everything he did was beyond his control. He didn't not understand his own heart, but he couldn't follow his heart. In that kind of family, he developed the habit of thinking with "reason" since he was a child, and he was the pillar of this big family, and he had to make some sacrifices from himself, which was very incomprehensible to his two younger brothers, who were receptive to the new western thinking. But this was incomprehensible to his two younger brothers, who had embraced the new Western thinking, and so he was often left alone to suffer the agony.

The emergence of the dual personality: progressive in thought and outdated in behavior, an "accomplice" to the feudal order and a victim at the same time.

1. The May Fourth Movement made him realize that the feudal system was bound to collapse, but instead of contributing his own modest efforts to its disintegration, he adopted a "policy of non-resistance" to escape from reality.

The most obvious manifestation of this is the birth of his wife, Ruijue. Gao old master died, only the aunt's words, juexin he was powerless to resist, a simple sentence in order to avoid blood, can be disregarded to send Ruijue to the countryside where there is a lack of medical treatment, people can still kill people, the living is not as valuable as the dead.

The death of the high old master, did not make Juexin from the original framework to break free, he is still practicing his policy of no resistance, still not willing to offend anyone in the family, in his wife's affairs, even if as long as he resisted a little or good, as the highest authority of the high old master is dead, things are not without any loop of the margin, but he was not willing to do so, still just Being his filial son. He is a numb machine, does not know any innovation, only know how to do things by the book, will only follow the route that people have set for him to go forward.

Seojak's death caused him pain, but such pain was of his own making. If he hadn't been so defenseless, Seojak wouldn't have moved to the countryside, and wouldn't have died because of poor medical care. From his pain we can easily see that he is not without ideological awareness, only that he is a person whose thoughts and behavior are derailed, and his thoughts can only remain in the stage of thought, never put into practice. In his heart, he actually knew clearly that to send his wife out was to send her to the fire pit, and he wept bitterly, and with a thousand reluctance in his heart, he still refused to listen to Jue Hui's bellowing advice, and sent his own wife to a desperate end.

This is a mentality of slavery, tamed by the traditional feudal thinking, and he is just at the mercy of others, trapping himself in the midst of infinite pain. The new thinking was only a beautiful realm in his mind, but in his behavior he could not break through the bondage of feudalism, which was the root cause of his doomed life of misery.

2. As the elder brother of Jie Min and Jie Hui, he wanted to take up the responsibility of the "elder brother", but also hoped that they would not go back to their old ways and make the same mistakes.

When Mrs. Gao wanted to betroth Jiemin, Jiexin didn't want Jiemin to follow in his footsteps, but he also wanted to be a good "big brother" and be a filial son, and he wanted to help Jiemin, but didn't dare to go against the wishes of Mrs. Gao. He wants to help Jiemin but does not dare to go against his wishes. On the surface, he promises Master Gao to do what he wants, but behind his back, he wants to help Jiemin very much, and he even plans to bribe the fortune teller, but the result is just the opposite of what he hoped for, and the two eight characters match up to be: the husband honors his wife and the wife honors her, and the result is very lucky. He had thought that this trick would help him, but now it has become his enemy. He secretly laughed at his own stupidity while worrying about Jue Min's future.

What had happened to Mei Fen was a lifelong wound, and for several years his mind and body had suffered too many wounds of their own. And the pain he experienced was incomprehensible to others. Jiemin was his sibling brother, and his situation was a reflection of his own, and if he continued to follow the old master's instructions to let Jiemin go on like this, then Jiemin would be the second version of himself. No matter which way he looked at it, he should not let Jue Min accept what was in front of him. As a filial son, he has suffered too much in the past few years, he can understand his brother's current situation, but also can imagine his brother's endless pain; as a big brother, of course, he is even more unwilling to let his brother to bear the infinite pain. As a feudal orthodox thought under the cultivation of the typical, "do not do unto others as you would not have them do unto you" is the virtue they practiced, and should not let their favorite brother trapped in the abyss of doom.

However, as a filial son of Gao Gongguan, he could not go against the wishes of his elders, so he was often in deep pain, but also in a dilemma of contradiction, and sometimes he did not even know what to do, he did not want to offend both sides, but often both sides are offended.

This is also the case with Juehui, who wants to help him but can't let go of his title of "elder brother," which has special significance in the family. After Master Gao's death and before he was buried, Juehui was eager to leave his old family, which was full of evils. He asked his elder brother to leave, and JUEXIN understood his thoughts and wanted to support his brother, but as the elder brother, he had to take into account all the influences around him. At this point in time, Jiexin has been completely isolated, his wife died, his son was sent out, leaving him alone, and his heart has never been lonely, at this point in time, he would like to be accompanied by people, from the whole family from the situation, he could not let him go in any case.

On the issue of Juehui, he is also a long time thought struggle, he recalled his own pain over the years, weighing the pros and cons of going and staying, he always wanted to make every thing perfect, but he knows clearly that, in terms of his current situation, it is still impossible to solve the matter very satisfactorily. After so many bloody events, his state of mind has become much clearer than before, and he has also seen the true nature of his old feudal family more thoroughly, and has done things with less so-called "rationality" than earlier. In the end, he could not resist his brother and promised to give her financial help in secret. The fact that Jiehui was able to leave this evil place so quickly was not possible without Jiexin's secret help.

All of this was done in secret, but it was still the only thing he did that he could call his own. He thought about it with his own mind, and it was a blessing that his mind had begun to come to its senses and that he was not as passive as he had been in the past.

However his end result can only be loneliness.

In short, the "dark society" is the mother of tragedy, which has killed countless young people over the centuries and pushed each and every one of them to the brink of extinction. Juexin's youth is painful, what he suffered is not everyone can understand, not everyone can do to get, although he is the end of the feudal society by the traditional culture produced by the image of a generation of filial son, there are a lot of people will be called the end of the feudal period of the last son of filial piety, but we have to pay attention to, in the modern society there are still a large number of such a person exists, such a kind of thinking is not completely from our society, but it is not the most important thing, it is not the most important thing. This kind of thinking has not completely disappeared from our society. It is still killing people from one generation to the next.

Jiexin, as the eldest son of a generation, certainly has a cowardly side, and his cowardice has hurt many of his most cherished people, but should we not realize that his cowardice is given to him by the society, and is given to him by the special position of the eldest son, and what he does is only to fulfill his duty.

In the whole work, he is the first person who deserves sympathy. We should understand how he is helpless behind his cowardice and lack of resistance. The slavery of people produced by the remnants of the feudal system is what we should really hate, and we should think about how to really eliminate those components that harm people! As Bajin himself said, "I was able to portray Jiexin only because I was familiar with him and I had feelings for him. I have spent so much ink on him, but I just want to use him to criticize the old system.
