The drum is a popular instrument in black Africa, also known as the soul of African traditional music. African music in the most prominent, the most important factor is the rhythm, the drum is the basis of the rhythm of African music and the expression of the musical language of one of the most important musical instruments, drums in the life of the African people in the important position of any other musical instruments can not be compared. Zimbabwean composer Domishani Mallari's "Mama Nozipo", written in 1990, is a new work for string quartet with African drums, performed by the world-famous Konos Quartet to great effect.
