Seeking a myth from an ethnic minority?
In a very long time, the poor knot place in the Yalong River Valley in the Shannan region of Tibet had a mild climate and deep forests. A macaque monkey lived on the mountain. Later on, this macaque married a rocky rakshasa woman and gave birth to six young macaques. The old monkey sent them to live in the fruitful woods. After three years, when the old monkey went back to see them, they had multiplied into more than five hundred monkeys. As there was not enough food to eat, some were fighting and brawling with each other, scratching their cheeks and pulling off their ears. The monkeys were all hungry and squeaking. Seeing the old monkeys coming, they gathered around and hollered, "Take what for us to eat ah!?" They raised their hands and asked each other, and their situation was miserable. When the old monkey saw this scene, his heart was very intolerant. So he led them to a hillside full of wild cereals and pointed them out to the monkeys, saying, "You can eat this!" From then on, the monkeys ate the wild cereals that were not planted and harvested, and the hair on their bodies slowly became shorter, and their tails gradually disappeared, and then they could speak, and then they evolved into human beings.
