The History and Culture of Dangjia Village in Hancheng

The quadrangle in Dangjia Village is a typical representative of Hancheng dwellings. Hancheng was once called "Little Beijing" in Shaanxi during the Qianlong period, and Dangjia Village was also called "Little Hancheng" because of its developed economy, which shows the grand occasion of that year. Dangjia Village is a living fossil of the ancient traditional residential villages of oriental human beings. " Dangjia Village is now designated as a "historical and cultural protection village" by Shaanxi Province and included in the "International Traditional Dwellings Research Project". Become an important place for tourism.

Walking into Dangjia Village, the ancient stone alleys, tall gatehouses with different shapes, elegant framed stones, solemn ancestral halls, tall and straight satellite pavilions, mysterious dust-avoiding beads, gorgeous memorial tablets of filial piety and well-laid quadrangles all tell people about the past prosperity and glory of Dangjia Village.

Those exquisite and ingenious lintels, wood carvings, brick carvings and wall carvings make people appreciate and admire China's traditional Confucian humanistic thought, and truly perceive and feel the philosophy of being a man and doing things.

The ancient defense system, such as the city wall, the watchtower, the Biyang fort and the sentry gate with sandwich wall, is an important reason why Dangjia Village has been preserved so far, and also reflects the mentality of the wealthy Dangjia Village people in the war years.
