In 2006, The Ballad of Liu Sanjie, declared by Yizhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was selected into the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists, with 23 categories of folk literature projects. According to national research, Yizhou is the hometown of Sanjie Liu.

The story of Liu Sanjie, a singer of Zhuang nationality, is mainly spread in Guangxi Zhuang compatriots' inhabited areas. In Xiajian Village on the Xiajian River in western Guangxi, there lived a little girl named Liu, who was good at growing flowers. Because of her three trips, everyone called her Liu Sanjie.
Sanjie Liu especially likes singing folk songs. None of the famous young people in Fiona Fang can beat her. Mo Huairen, the landlord of Mo Village, exploited farmers, and Sanjie Liu sang folk songs to expose his ugly behavior. In order to stop Liu Sanjie from singing folk songs, Mo Huairen resorted to all kinds of despicable means, causing Liu Sanjie to fall into the water and drift to Qixingyan in Guilin.
Legend has it that Sanjie Liu sang a duet for seven days and seven nights with a young man guarding the rice mill in Qixingyan, and then turned into a pair of orioles and flew away. "March 3rd" is the biggest song fair day in Zhuang area, also known as "Song Xian Festival", and it is a folk memorial festival.
