Technology and Humanities Essay

The bell of the end of the 20th century is about to ring, and mankind is about to enter the ever-changing and unpredictable corridor of the 21st century. How to face this new century which is full of confusion and rapid development? How should we human beings control our future destiny? I believe that this should attract the attention of the organizing committee of the World Expo, and this content will be highlighted in the World Expo.

Therefore, my theme for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo is: "Technology and Humanity, Flying Together".

Since the birth of mankind, we have had two weapons: science and technology and humanities. From the earliest drilling for fire and carving stones and walls, to today's computer technology and increasingly developed humanities and human culture, human beings from which we continue to benefit, and by means of these two weapons produced by a strong impetus, from the blood to the information age. The role of the two is self-evident, and the relationship between the two is just like the two ends of the scale, which cannot be neglected, and one is indispensable. Especially for today's situation, science and technology and the humanities are more important than ever.

This is the inevitable need to accelerate the development of today's era. Today's era, science has developed to a considerable height. Computer networks and information technology, the human genome project, the protection and utilization of resources, the attack on a variety of terminal diseases, and so on, all of this development is the embodiment of today's rapid development of science and technology, to give mankind hope and power of survival. At the same time, the development of science and technology has brought about a great impact on values and ethics. Whether cloning technology can be applied to human beings and whether genetic technology will be used indiscriminately and bring about disasters, all these questions have brought much anxiety and fear to human beings. At this time, mankind is in urgent need of the humanities to play a unique role in solving all kinds of confusion on the road of human development and clearing the obstacles of ideology and morality, just as when Marxism brought new hope to China. The equal importance and complementary relationship of the two can be seen.

This is the inevitable need to improve the quality of all mankind. The world is a combination of individuals - people. For the sake of world peace and development, the role of the individual can not be ignored, the quality of the individual is also urgent to improve, so as to lead the quality of the whole mankind to improve. Such a task is particularly daunting for those in developing countries. This calls for strengthening the construction of the "two civilizations" for individuals, arming them with science and technology and the humanities - modern scientific and cultural knowledge and a correct world view - so that they can become perfect human beings. "As long as people are perfect, the world is perfect". This wishful and beautiful ideal should also be our goal of struggle.

In order to cooperate with the establishment and embodiment of the above theme, the Expo can focus on the construction of "science and technology and humanities - human wings" theme pavilion, the use of high-tech sound, light, electricity technology, science and technology and humanities development and relationship as a clue. Using high-tech sound, light and electric technologies, the pavilion will take the development and relationship between science and technology and humanities as a clue, reviewing the history of human development and looking forward to the future of the earth, so as to attract and educate visitors. Each country can also set up its own exhibition area to introduce its own science and technology and humanities, opening a window for mutual understanding among countries. I believe that after such efforts, "science and technology and humanities, fly together" concept, will be y rooted in people's hearts!
