What are the characteristics and indications of laparoscopic cholecystectomy?

Compared with open cholecystectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy has the characteristics of less trauma, less pain, shorter hospitalization time, faster recovery of organ function, no obvious surgical scar, safety and reliability, wide surgical field of vision and no need for postoperative analgesia.

The main indications of LC are: symptomatic chronic cholecystitis, gallbladder stones (accompanied by secondary bile duct stones, papillary myotomy should be performed before LC) and polypoid lesions of gallbladder.

The main contraindications of LC are acute cholecystitis, acute cholangitis, acute pancreatitis, abdominal infection, bleeding tendency and coagulation disorder, portal hypertension, pregnancy and history of upper abdominal surgery.
