Yunnan Lantern is a kind of Han opera. Lantern originated from the folk "social fire" activities in the Ming Dynasty or earlier, and was popular in all parts of the province and individual areas in Sichuan and Guizhou. Because of the differences in pronunciation and singing by artists, the popular lanterns in different regions are influenced by different kinds of songs, operas or folk songs, so Yunnan lanterns are divided into Kunming lanterns, Chenggong lanterns, Yuxi lanterns, Midu lanterns, Yao 'an lanterns, Dayao lanterns, Chuxiong lanterns, Lufeng lanterns, Yuanmou lanterns, Jianshui lanterns, Mengzi lanterns, Songming lanterns, Qujing lanterns and Luoping lanterns. Many plays performed by Yunnan Lantern Opera have simple, healthy and distinctive folk art characteristics, and are full of the life breath of working people.
