How many meters can a self-built house be built in rural areas of Suzhou?
Rural self-built houses shall not exceed 5 floors or 18.5 meters.
In principle, the self-built residence of rural homestead does not exceed 5 floors (stairwells are not included in the number of floors, but their height is calculated), and the total height of the building does not exceed 18.5 meters; Private self-built buildings are allowed to add mezzanine on the first floor of the building. The height of mezzanine should be less than 2.2 meters, and the projected area of mezzanine (including stairs) should not exceed 50% of the area of the first floor. The excess part is calculated as one floor.
