Tools of Chinese painting
The tools of Chinese painting are as follows:
1. Pen. Brush can be divided into long front, center and short front according to the length of its stroke, and its performance is different. Long front is easy to draw graceful lines, short front paper is easy to be dignified and thick, and writing brushes are divided into small, medium and large models.
2. ink. There are two common raw materials for making ink: oil smoke and pine smoke. The ink made is called oil smoke ink and Song Yanmo. Oil smoke ink is made of tung oil fume. The ink is black and shiny, which can show the subtle changes of ink color and is suitable for painting landscape paintings. Pine smoke is dark and dull, and it is mostly used for feathers and characters' hair, so landscape painting is not suitable.
3. Paper. Silk was widely used in Chinese painting in the Tang and Song Dynasties, and it was not until the Yuan Dynasty that paper was widely used for painting. The paper used in Chinese painting is different from other kinds of paintings. It is Xuan paper made of rosewood as the main raw material. Xuan paper is produced in Jingxian County, Anhui Province, which belongs to Xuanzhou in ancient times, so it is called Xuan paper.
4. inkstone. Generally speaking, it is enough to choose inkstones from various real estates for calligraphy and painting. When choosing inkstones, the stone is fine and moist, easy to ink and does not absorb water. After use, the inkstone should be cleaned in time and kept clean, and exposure and fire roasting should be avoided.
5. pigments. Chinese painting developed to the Tang Dynasty, with heavy colors as the mainstream. Since the prevalence of ink painting in the Song Dynasty, the use of colors has gradually declined under the trend of elegant literati. However, painters should have a better understanding of the traditional painting pigments, make a multifaceted development, or make a better combination with ink painting.
Traditional Chinese painting pigments can be divided into mineral pigments, plant pigments, metal pigments, animal pigments and artificial pigments according to their color-making raw materials.
6. Color matching tools: white porcelain products are better, and several small plates should be prepared for color matching or ink adjustment. Plum blossom plates and layered plates are ideal for color removal, and different pigments should be stored separately.
7. Water storage basin: It is also better to hold water for washing pens or supplying clean water.
8. thin blanket: lining the drawing table can prevent the ink from penetrating and contaminating the painting, and the picture is not easy to be damaged by the pen after the paper is laid.
9. Glue and alum: In order to prevent the color from falling off when applying heavy colors such as azurite, azurite, cinnabar, etc., you can cover it with glue alum water. Alum is in powder and block form, while glue includes bottled liquid deer glue, strip or block cow glue, fish glue, deer glue, etc. It is best to prepare a set of cups and alcohol lamps to melt the glue and mix it with clear water.
1. Mortar: When the powder pigment particles are too coarse, it needs to be ground with a mortar and put in a beaker. The pen holder of the external pen, the paperweight for pressing paper, the paper cutter, the carbon strip for drafting, the absorbent cotton waste cloth, and the inkpad and seal for letterpress printing can be prepared as appropriate.
