What is the raw material of rice oil?

Rice bran oil, also known as rice oil, is made from the rice bran (also including germ) left over from processing rice. Some of them are made by pressing method, and more of them are made by puffing and leaching method.

Rice bran is a by-product of rice processing. After harvesting the rice grain from the shell to the center is divided into rice husk, exocarp, mesocarp, crosslinked layer, seed coat, paste powder layer, endosperm, in the lower part of the rice grain is germ. When milling rice, the husk is removed first, and after the husk is removed, the grain is called "brown rice". The brown rice is milled to remove the bran and germ, and then get the refined white rice. Rice bran is composed of exocarp, mesocarp, crosslinked layer, seed coat, paste powder layer. Although the germ is not rice bran, but its size and specific gravity and rice bran close to the rice bran, rice milling is often mixed with the rice bran, therefore, usually said that the rice bran actually also includes the germ.

Rice bran oil has an obvious nutritional advantage, that is, it contains more vitamin E, vitamin K and other vitamins, as well as phytochemicals such as glutenin, phytosterol, squalene, γ-aminobutyric acid and other phytochemicals.

Overall, rice bran oil is an edible vegetable oil with better nutritional value. Rice bran oil needs to refine in the process, the traditional refining method is "alkali refining method" or "physical refining method". These two traditional methods have big disadvantages. Alkali refining method will seriously damage the gluten, vitamin E and other nutrients; physical refining method of large energy consumption, low efficiency. In recent years, there are some cash refining methods, such as molecular distillation, membrane separation decolorization, microbial deacidification, etc., which is good to promote the promotion of rice bran oil.
