Customs in Fujian

Fujian customs include: the Festival of Arguing Nine, Lantern Festival at the Lantern Festival, Dragon Boat Race at the Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Yuan Pudu Ancestor Sacrifice, and Mid-Autumn Cake Festival.

1, Au Jiu Festival

In the traditional concept of Fuzhou people, the number "nine" is excellent. On the day of the festival, every family uses glutinous rice, brown sugar, plus peanuts, cinnamon, red dates, water chestnuts, sesame seeds and other ingredients to make a sweet porridge, known as "Aojiu congee", which is used to offer sacrifices to ancestors or gifts to friends and relatives.
