(2) Seed storage and longevity
In production, rhubarb seeds are usually packed in sacks or wooden cases and stored in ventilated and dry places. Under general storage conditions, the germination ability of rhubarb seeds can last for 2 years, and the germination rate of fresh seeds is higher than that of old seeds. It is best to sow rhubarb seeds in the same year or the following year, and the germination rate of seeds stored at room temperature for 2 years is 58%. After more than 3 years, the germination rate decreased obviously. The germination temperature is 1 ~ 30℃, and the optimum temperature is 15 ~ 20℃, and it can germinate within 48 hours. If the temperature is lower than 2℃, it takes 40 ~ 46 days to germinate. Germination below 0℃ or above 35℃ was inhibited.
(3) promoting seed germination
Seeds sown in spring are best germinated. The method is to soak the seeds in 18 ~ 20℃ warm water for 6 ~ 8 hours, take them out after soaking, cover them with wet cloth, and rinse them with 12 cold water twice a day. 1% ~ 2% seeds are sown as soon as they germinate.
