Puning people have a tradition of brewing soybean paste, especially in Hongyang area, which is famous for its best production skills. In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, sauce gardens and sales workshops specializing in the production of Puning bean paste began to appear. In the 20th year of Qing Daoguang (184 1), Fang Shuzhe opened Yuanxing Soy Sauce Garden at the east gate of Hongyang City in Puning, and began to research, develop, produce and sell a lot of soy sauce named "Puning Soy Sauce". Puning bean paste is a traditional bean product in Hongyang Town, the ancient city of Puning County. It is made of fresh soybean, flour, salt and other raw materials through fermentation, sun drying and other production processes. Soybean paste is golden yellow and contains protein, amino acids and reducing sugar. It is delicious and mellow, nutritious, palatable and hygienic, and it is a good seasoning for home cooking.
