Author: Wind is fashion.
I have been married to Yang Yan for eight years. Never seen my father-in-law. At first, I thought Yang Yan was afraid that I would dislike that home and would not take me back. So I made a positive statement: If I choose you, I will be ready to accept your parents, whether they are poor or rich or always sick. Yan Yang held my hand, affectionate, but didn't speak.
Once, I even bought three tickets to his house. I excitedly put them in front of him. He said, "Zhong Er is five years old. It's time to meet his grandparents." But I don't want Yang Yan's face to grow too long at once and tear the ticket to pieces. Yang Yan said, "Zhong Er has no grandfather. I have no father. " Give me your hand back. He dropped a cup to the ground. I have never seen him so angry.
I opened my bag silently. I threw the gifts I bought for my parents-in-law into the dustbin. That night, I slept in Zhong Er's bed.
Yan Yang comes from the countryside. I know he is not an ungrateful man. Every Spring Festival, he buys a lot of things and sends them home. Every time I call, he says, Mom, come and live in the city for a few days! Mother went to her brother and sister's house. He always comes in a hurry. I could see that he was homesick, but he never mentioned going home. Yang Yan never mentioned her father. I don't know what happened between them.
The next day was the weekend, and Yang Yan sent Zhong Er to grandma's house. He came back to get the clothes I was washing. For the first time, he told me about my father-in-law whom I had never met.
Yan Yang is the third child in the family. He has a brother and a sister. They both went to college. I know. I once said: Mom and Dad are really great. The peasant family gave up three college students. What a torment it would be! At that time, Yang Yan always smoked one after another. If you don't answer me,
In the third year of junior high school in Yan Yang, my sister was admitted to the best normal school in the province after her brother was admitted to the university. On the day of receiving the admission notice, the whole family was taking care of two flue-cured tobacco fields. The bright sunshine makes the family feel anxious. My sister said with tears, I won't go. I'm going to Shenzhen to work for Xiaoyan to go to school.
Dad threw the hoe in his hand to the ground: "If you don't go to school, it's not your turn!" " "
He looked up and said, "Sister, I am 16, so I don't want to study." Mother is wiping her tears. The younger brother squatted on the ground and said weakly, "I'll find two more tutors." We're fine. I wish I had graduated. "
I still don't have enough money to pay my sister's tuition. Dad, put your legs up. I came back with a ticket to Qvanxian Zhang in my hand. He sold the flue-cured tobacco field that could fetch a good price at once to the village accountant at a low price. Mother said, "All these lands have been sold. What will we eat and drink in the future? " Dad said, "I really can't. Let the old man come down. " Or what dad just said, but Yang Yan kept it in mind. Although he said he couldn't study, it came from his father's mouth. His heart is very bad.
Sister went to school. Dad went out to help others to cure tobacco leaves. Dad is a good artist, as busy as a bee. Yang Yan, however, was slack in his studies because of his father's words. He will drop out of school sooner or later anyway. What about studying hard? Soon. He's hanging out with a group of socialites.
Until one day. He went to the reservoir to play with those so-called "friends" for a day and returned home. He was livid when he saw his father standing at the door waiting for him.
Seeing him, dad slapped him when he came up: "Since you don't want to go to school. Well, I won't go to work tomorrow, and I will go to the construction site with my uncle! "
He glared at his father. His heart suddenly swelled with discontent. He roared, "Why do they want to go to school and won't let me go?"
Dad said, "Because you are an old pimple, there is no other reason."
He craned his neck and said, "If I don't go to school, I won't live." Yang Yan is a man of his word. He has been hungry for five days. Mother had no choice but to go to the village to find her uncle. Dad said, "if you want to go to school, you can write me an iou." You can write down every penny you spend on me, and then you can make money. Give it back to me. Your mother and I can't afford a son. No one can count on it in the end. "
He sat up. He shook his hand and wrote down the written evidence. He gnashed his teeth and said, "Don't worry. I won't owe you a penny. "
That night, he ran to the river at the east end of the village and cried all night. Dad must not go near, otherwise. How could you do this to him? His eldest son. Isn't it all pride?
He seldom goes home after school. But dad always asks him to go home and help him with his work for various reasons. Flue-cured tobacco has to be put on the shelves, and he can't do it alone. He wants Yan Yang to go home and help. Wheat is yellow, and it will fall if it is not harvested in time. Also asked Yang Yan to go home and grab the harvest. Yang Yan gritted his teeth. Study hard, if only he wanted to go to college. If you leave this home, you will escape from your misery.
That cut bean. Yang Yan went down with a sickle and cut his leg. When his mother anointed him with medicine, he asked, "Mother. I am what you want to come? "
Mother sighed and said, "Don't blame your father. He's desperate, too He is afraid that you will all leave. Loneliness. "
He looked at his father who was helping to plant radish in the yard and said, "His parents sell iron for their children to go to school, unlike him. All I know is that Qian Qian's money will one day. It's no use doing it all day. "
Dad grows half a ridge of radish in the yard every year. Maybe the soil is not good. All radishes are very small. They can hardly be eaten. The whole family can only drink radish soup with bad taste.
Mom is still a good thing, drying radish tassels and soaking them in water for him to drink. The thought of him makes you angry.
When I was in high school, my brother graduated and went to work. My sister can also take care of her living expenses. It stands to reason that the conditions at home are much better. Dad should be lenient with him.
But every time I go home to get living expenses and materials, my father takes out the iou seriously and asks him to write down the money, sign his name and date. Every time he writes these things, he will grit his teeth. Then step on your feelings for dad.
As the college entrance examination approached that year, the wheat at home turned yellow again. Dad sent him a message to come back and cut wheat. He finally couldn't help it. He went home and had a big fight with his father: "You can't cut it, why are you pointing at me?"
Dad violently knocked out the cigarette ash in the cigarette bag. He said slowly, "I'm not bad at raising children to prevent old age." Who do you depend on? "
He cut wheat day and night for three days, and then he went back to school without looking back.
The college entrance examination that year. He got the highest score in the town. He wrote a letter to his brothers and sisters, in which he said that he didn't expect his father to pay for his college education, but he hoped that they could lend him some money and he would pay it back in the future. This letter is very decisive. At that time, all he saw was the future, and his affection for him was just a tear of his mother. It's useless.
On the day he went to college, he left home with tears in his eyes, without even saying hello to his father. He hasn't called him dad for years. In his eyes, dad is more like a creditor. With his debts, Yang Yan can go out with difficulty. Yang Yan took a drag on his cigarette and said, I owe my life to him!
Go to the village, Yan Yang looked back at home low adobe, accidentally saw his father standing at the door. He put his hand on the arbor and looked away from home. Yang Yan turned his head and his heart became hard.
Yang Yandao: "Xiao Yun. The first time I went to your house, your father peeled oranges for me, played chess with me and had a cordial conversation. I cried when I came back. Such a father is a father. " Say that finish, his eyes moist again.
I don't know why my father-in-law, whom I have never met, treats his son so mercilessly. Does poverty polish all family ties?
Yan Yang found a crumpled piece of paper from an old book. I saw a lot of accounts written on it. Yang Yan's name is written on it. Yang Yan said, "Pay off this paper and I won't owe him anything."
I can see that Yang Yan is unhappy. He dotes on Zhong Er very much. He doesn't accept that Zhong Er is a bit bad, even if I take care of Zhong Er. He will betray me. I know Yang Yan has a knot in her heart.
Please have a good holiday with the company. I told Yan Yang that I would be away on business for a few days. Then I went to Yang Yan's hometown.
Despite my psychological preparation, I was surprised to find Yang Yan's home. My three children who work in the city all send money back. Why do they still live in the worst adobe house in the village? It seems that it is true that Yang Yan said that my father-in-law loves money like a life.
There is also a radish field that Yang Yan said in the yard. Every year, my mother-in-law still sends me some radish tassels that have been dried for more than ten days. Ask me to soak water for Yang Yan to drink. I think it smells so bad that I always throw it away secretly.
My mother-in-law came out to pour the swill. She was shocked when she saw me. Say, "Why are you here?" When Yang Yan and I got married, my mother-in-law went.
Let me in, in the dim light I saw the old man hunched over the kang. He struggled to his feet. Mother-in-law said, "This is Xiaoyun's and Yang Yan's." Grandfather sighed. He pulled the kang with his hand and said, "Are you tired of walking?" ? Sit down quickly. "
He is not as fierce as he thinks. He feels like a kind old country man.
I said, "Dad, what's wrong with you?" My mother-in-law was about to say, but my father-in-law gave her a wink and said, "Nothing, I'm old, and the parts don't work well." My mother-in-law wiped her eyes and began to cook for me.
While helping her cook, her mother-in-law asked about Yang Yan and Zhong Er. I looked at my father-in-law out of the corner of my eye, and he pretended as if nothing had happened, but I knew he was listening carefully.
Going out with my mother-in-law to hold firewood, I said, "Yang Yan still hates her father!" " "
Mother-in-law's tears poured out. She said: "It is true that father and son were enemies in previous lives. Your father is stubborn, and Yang Yan can't pull back eight cows.
"Actually. Your father hurt Xiaoyan the most. Look at this half-ridge radish. Your father grows it every year. Even if there are difficulties at home, he doesn't plant for anything else. It's because Yang Yan is weak inside. An old Chinese doctor said that soaking radish buds in water can replenish qi. Your father wrote it down. Every year he dries radish tassels and gives them to you. Then let me make a phone call, don't let me say he did it ... "
"Then why did Dad treat Yang Yan like that?"
The mother-in-law sighed.
"At that time, Yang Yan made no three no four friends outside. If your father didn't use the goad, I'm afraid he would really stop learning. Every time I call him back to work, it's your father who misses him. I don't know, but the child is stubborn, and the two of them have been holding the cow. ...
"Your father body not line, it hurts. But he won't let me talk to the children. He said that they are like everything, and it doesn't hurt when I think of them three. He refused to see a doctor. He saved all the money Xiaoyan gave him and said to leave it to Zhong Er to go to the lobby ... "My eyes blurred. Fatherly love is a deep well. My son's bucket is shallow, how can he get out of the well?
Mother-in-law said, "He calls the child's name in his dream every night. When he woke up, he told them something about their childhood. He said that if children are good when they are young, they will be poor. You can be around and twitter. Want to be quiet for a while ... "
I stood at the entrance of the village and called Yan Yang. I told him that a father's love is like his right hand. It only knows how to pay silently. But you never have to say thank you with your left hand ...
The pride of being a full-time professor "
Chen Pingyuan
One summer and autumn season 36 years ago, in a mountain village in eastern Guangdong, an educated youth aged 16 cut in line in a dilapidated classroom. As a private teacher, this is his first class. It is the first time that children in mountain villages have never been to kindergarten and have been detained in the classroom. It's uncomfortable to sit for such a long time. After a while, someone raised his hand and said, "Teacher, I have to pee." You just explain to him, don't walk around in class; Someone over there began to cry again, asked why, and said he peed his pants. I thought it was safer to be a novice from the first grade, but I didn't expect it to be "king of the children". You can complain and complain, but this educated youth has forged an indissoluble bond with the profession of "teacher" since then. After the Cultural Revolution, the college entrance examination system was restored. The educated youth walked out of the mountain, finished college, went to graduate school, and finally settled by the unnamed lake. With early teaching experience, I know that during class, the audience should not hurry to go to the toilet. For more than 20 years, this teacher who has been teaching from the first grade of primary school to the doctoral class of the university has seriously faced every class. Maybe it's a reward from heaven. This former educated youth was actually rated as one of the top ten teachers in Peking University in 2006, which is really emotional.
You guessed it, this person is me. Last year, I always won six awards from the State, the Ministry of Education, Peking, the Professional Society and Peking University. What worries me most is the "Top Ten Teachers of Peking University" with the lowest level. Because other awards are for my professional research, and only this one is for my teaching and educating people. Whether the lecture is good or not is far less conspicuous than the scientific research achievements on the performance stage; But as a university teacher, I value this kind of "preaching and teaching to solve doubts" more.
Over the years, in addition to professional research, I have also paid attention to university education. Among them, what saddens me most is that the "sense of honor" of the profession of teachers is declining sharply. A few years ago, I was invited to give a speech at the orientation meeting in Peking University. At the meeting, a freshman suddenly asked, Teacher, you are very clever. Don't you want to be a teacher all your life without a higher pursuit? At that time, I was anxious, and I made a generous speech and won applause. Afterwards, the freshman explained to me that his parents were both teachers, and he was dissatisfied with being admitted to the Chinese Department of Peking University, fearing that he could only teach after graduation. Yes, in the eyes of many people, at my age, even if I can't mix with the governor and mayor, I have to get a principal and dean. Not long ago, at a large international conference, the host whispered to me, do you have a better title? I said no, just a professor in the Chinese Department of Peking University. Until today, it seems that many business cards of "successful people" are full of fake titles, one side is not enough, and there are folds; As clean as I am, I only write about teachers, not too much. In this regard, I am not embarrassed at all, and even very proud, saying that this is called a "full-time professor."
It is a blessing to be proud of your career. In my opinion, being a teacher, especially a teacher at Peking University, is a very happy thing. I'm not saying this on this occasion. I have mentioned on many occasions that giving lectures to students in Peking University is a sense of satisfaction. When you are still preparing lessons, you can already predict where the students will nod, admire, laugh and question. This kind of tacit understanding that I can communicate with each other at a glance on stage and off stage, so far, I can only achieve it to the maximum extent in the classroom of Peking University. Teaching in other universities at home and abroad will get better and better; But in Peking University's class, this feeling of "I can still feel the harmonious heartbeat of the sacred unicorn" is common. Therefore, in the face of all kinds of temptations, the reason why so many teachers choose Peking University without hesitation is mainly not because of money or fame, but because of students. Whenever you step onto the platform and face so many innocent, enthusiastic and thirsty eyes, you will know what you should do.
My grandfather teaches in a private school, my parents are Chinese teachers in a secondary school, and my wife and I are now teaching in the Chinese Department of Peking University. This "one continuous strain" makes me have deep feelings for the profession of teachers. Teaching is glorious, but teaching books well is not easy. In addition to personal talent, talent and acquired efforts, the academic environment is undoubtedly crucial. I never dare to say such big words as "Gold always shines". Ancient and modern, Chinese and foreign, "talents have not met", that is the normal state; Like me, I can give full play to my little talent, thanks to the relatively relaxed and free academic environment of Peking University, and even more thanks to my small collective, the Chinese Department of Peking University. I have been teaching in school for more than 20 years and experienced a lot of storms. Thanks to the protection of my predecessors, I was able to study calmly. Only with the passage of time, most of them quit the lecture hall. I still clearly remember that when Mr. Lin Geng was in the last class, the students were infatuated and unwilling to disperse for a long time; Professor Qian Liqun gave a speech on Lu Xun at Peking University for the last time, and many listeners were in tears. Now, they either retire, go back to study quietly and engage in their favorite professional writing; Or has passed away and disappeared in the depths of history. As a teacher who is still active on the podium, I sincerely thank them for their support and encouragement.
Having said that, I can't help feeling sad and happy. I am glad that this award shows that I have lived up to their expectations; Sadly, in 2006, six professors of Chinese Department in Peking University died one after another. In addition to the 97-year-old poet and literary historian Mr. Lin Geng mentioned just now, there are linguists Mr. Lin Tao and Mr. Xu Tongqiang, literary historian Mr. Chu Binjie and folk literature expert Mr. Wang Jingshou; Sadly, Professor Meng Erdong, who was only 49 years old, also left us. Professor Meng's deeds of teaching and educating people are widely praised, and other teachers deserve our eternal memory.

Expectation of this life in the choice of "afterlife"
Bi Shuzhi
"If there is an afterlife, which nationality do you want to be?" According to modern parlance, this is obviously a "false proposition". However, the choice of this "false proposition" can make people somewhat discount their present attitude and expectations for the future, so it cannot be said that it is completely meaningless.
"
In the past September and 10, the Chinese and Indian media respectively answered the above-mentioned "false proposition" with a questionnaire. The Times of India recently published a poll report. In five major cities, such as New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, nearly 90% of the respondents insisted on "being an Indian if there is an afterlife". The reasons mainly include "rich spiritual heritage is proud" and "high-speed economic growth is expected". (Global Times1October 30, 65438) In China, a famous website conducted a survey in September about "If there is an afterlife, would you like to come from China again?" As of the evening of September 10, 64% of the participants in 10234 voted "No". For the reason of "unwillingness", 37.5% think it is "lack of dignity"; And 17.6% voted "Happiness is far from me".
The author has no intention to discuss the meaningless question of "who is rounder at home or abroad" through simple comparison. After all, every country has its own situation, and different numbers are behind different living soil. The identity of the respondents, their attitude towards life, their religious beliefs (Buddhism stresses past lives) and the propaganda of democratic ideas all determine the choice of this proposition.
But it is hard to understand why such a high proportion of people "lack dignity" as an era of "once in a hundred years" and as a regime that can shock the whole world by stamping their feet. As an economic power with sustained and rapid economic development for more than 20 years, why do so many people "can't see happiness"? Obviously, such findings are far from the current situation in China. Aside from the "angry youth" logic of some netizens who "oppose everything", what valuable factors can this "reference object" that is not very close reflect?
According to the survey of Indian media, Indians have a strong sense of belonging. Many people think that "India has shortcomings and looks a little dirty, chaotic and poor, but India has its own characteristics and has not lost itself with the pace of globalization." Whether you like it or not, this is India, not other countries. " This feeling seems to be lacking in China. Zhai Hua, a project official of the Asian Development Bank, recently wrote in the Global Times and lamented: Have China people lost their pride? When he talked about such a topic, foreigners couldn't understand it at all: 10% economic growth rate, 1 trillion dollars of foreign exchange reserves, the 2008 Olympic Games, and the "Shenzhou" spacecraft that traveled in space. How many "foreigners" have you envied? What do you want?
But China people seem to turn a blind eye to these achievements, instead of liking themselves. In the subconscious of many people in China, modernization means internationalization, internationalization means westernization, and westernization means Americanization. The result is that "China's XX" is everywhere (almost all XX comes from the United States), but there is no balanced mentality at all, so give yourself an accurate positioning. We always have to find our own coordinates from other people's mouths. When others say "OK", we are happy for a long time. When people frown, some of us will cry, and the advertisement of a foreign company will make us angry easily. Without pride, how can we not "lack dignity"?
The second reason for Indians' self-identity is that they believe that "India's economy is developing rapidly and they can benefit from it". Although people's pursuit of material things will never stop, China's modernization started earlier than Indian. After more than 20 years of rapid development, the overall quality of life of China people has been greatly improved. Everyone "eats well, dresses in a foreign style and lives in a spacious room". It stands to reason that everyone should be happier. Why do so many people say that they cannot see happiness? A word from the scholar Gu Ma may serve as a reference. He believes that we always say "since the reform and opening up", as if the development of these 20 years is a concept, but it is not. In the 1980s, economic growth generally led to the improvement of social conditions, but since the 1990s, economic growth has not led to the improvement of social conditions to a great extent-even if the economy has developed rapidly, a large number of people in society cannot directly benefit from it, and some people are excluded from the social structure of synchronous growth, but their interests should be guaranteed through the later interest adjustment. When the security system is not perfect, some people will have a sense of "no identity" that is out of touch with society.
Faced with such a result that many people may not like, we should not be afraid of medical treatment, but should reflect on it from a positive perspective. In joseph nye's view, whether people are concerned about their own materiality or confused about social coordinates, improving their sense of identity with the country and society is the country's "soft power" and the power to "win the future", which should not be taken lightly. Drawing lessons from the "social integration theory" of sociologist Parsons, under the background of diversified interest classes and complicated social groups, it is necessary to study and consider the specific conditions of various social groups and realize the "integration" of national identity from the aspects of interests, sense of honor and cultural power. Obviously, this cannot be achieved by a single institution, and it needs to be achieved by unified and powerful measures from the height of the country.

Is the simplest method the best?
Author: Chen Tong
Earlier, I read a book, Henry VIII and his six wives. At that time, I didn't understand why a woman would go through fire and water to marry him when he killed his first wife.
Now I won't ask such stupid questions-he just killed ten wives, and there are endless women queuing to recommend pillows, because he is Henry VIII, and if he marries him, he will be the queen, and his children will inherit the throne. After all, this is the shortest path to prosperity-although it is also the shortest path from result to death, before the final result comes, women all over the world will think that this is actually the easiest path to happiness, right?
This is an extreme example. You can think it doesn't mean anything, but I think life is sometimes so extreme-everyone wants to find a shortcut to the top of the mountain, just as everyone buys and sells in the stock market to make money instead of losing everything. Life is full of too much uncertainty.
Girlfriend is lovelorn. We say that all the men in the world are not dead, and your boyfriend is also very ordinary. Find a better one to make up for it. So we push everything we know to her, because it is a shortcut, and every woman knows that it is the shortest way to happiness-as long as one of thousands of successful and rich men is willing to say "yes" to her, her happiness in this life will be at her fingertips.
Is it difficult? Theoretically, it is not difficult. She is beautiful, young, simple, gentle and versatile. Shouldn't it be difficult? But I just waited a long time. It's not that no one is pursuing her, but that at the moment when she is always talking about marriage, all the men she likes get away with it. It's not that there are no men who are willing to marry her, but those who are willing to marry her and want her. She won't-because those men are obviously too far away. How much did she say she had to suffer from those men to enjoy the harvest?
So, her life is like looking for pearls on the beach-she didn't find that the beach was crowded with girls like her, and everyone was barefoot. Even if there are pearls, how can she find them? Even if she is lucky, does she have the strength to hold this pearl?
Many times, the easiest way to walk in life seems so short, but it is so long to walk-at most, you can pick up a few shells with beautiful patterns on the beach, but where can you pick up pearls?
I like the story of agatha christie very much. She was born in 1890, when most women were unemployed, especially aristocratic women. It's a pity that Agatha doesn't have such a good life. She fell in love with a poor man with little money, married him and gave birth to a lovely daughter for him. They shared weal and woe, and had a rather hard time. Later, men became rich. They buy big houses and cars owned only by the rich. Then the man fell in love with another woman.
She waited for a year until her husband changed his mind. Of course, her expectations failed, so she agreed to divorce. She said, "There is nothing to worry about. The rest is to think for yourself." She made a good plan for herself. She is not only famous for writing mysterious murders, but also married a young archaeologist 14 years younger than herself. At 39, she met him at 25. People advised her not to accept the young man's love. She replied: Why not? He loves archaeology, so I don't have to be afraid of getting old-the older I get, the more he loves me.
That's true. She lived to a very old age, was received by the Queen, and was knighted, so she no longer had to worry about money, fame, honor, status and love. She seems to have come a long way-writing detective stories. Before her, no woman succeeded by writing detective stories.
Man, who will jump if he is not forced to the edge of a cliff? Even jumping may be a better world. People, especially women, always like ease, like to get something for nothing, and like to get something for nothing.
This is a win-win world. You have no strength, no head-on quality, only a heart that hates marriage, and you can only marry a second-rate or third-rate man at most, and when they are tired of you abandoning you, if you don't grow up in time, what can you get except being at a loss and regretting?
I'm not encouraging you to take a long road, a tortuous road full of thorns. I mean, many roads, many seemingly easy roads, are actually the most difficult and impossible ones. They just look short, as if they are only one step away from success, but you need more than luck to cross that step.
It is better to grit your teeth and regard life as a long journey. Maybe when you finally reach the peak of glory, you will find a beautiful life around you. You don't need to please anyone, please anyone, cater to anyone, you have everything you want.
Just like dancing prodigy isadora duncan, no matter how life treats her, she has been working hard for her own hope. Even if my hopes fail and I suffer a great blow, I am still full of confidence. This made her a different person, and even today she is still radiant. I think she also wants to take a shortcut, right? In her autobiography, she herself said, "... has been rejected for many years; However, this final blow played a decisive role in my emotional nature. From then on, I put all my emotional strength into my art, but love didn't give me happiness, and my artistic pursuit was compensated. "In fact, she got more and richer love and a richer and more legendary life.
If you are unlucky, not born in a rich family, not as lucky as paris hilton-you have both beauty and wealth, and you are only 25 years old, then you are not really unlucky. There are many happy women in this world, but they are not paris hilton. The real misfortune of women is not that they haven't found a shortcut to happiness, but that they thought they had found it, but they walked all their lives and finally found that it was the farthest road and didn't lead anywhere.
