Picture book English reading is a reading teaching mode that I have tried for nearly a year. Unit 4 "Story Time", the first volume of the fifth grade of primary school English published by People's Education Press, tells the story of how the mouse used its wisdom to escape from Shekou. The story is simple, the language is easy to master, and the students also play interesting roles. I saw their strong interest and immediately launched a picture book story I prepared: Lion &; Mouse lion and mouse, mystifying: "This clever mouse not only played with snakes, but also fought with the lion, the king of the forest. First of all, enjoy the picture while listening to the stage.

In order to fully arouse students' enthusiasm and curiosity, the English children's picture book, which was originally a small book, was enlarged into a super-large one with bright colors and beautiful pictures, which is definitely a form that children can't see in their daily lives. Then I will lead the students to read the story together and play the original audio of the picture book story. I use exaggerated language and expressions, plus the cadence of the original sound, to bring the students into the story completely. When I showed the slides to the students, the students were immediately attracted by the pictures. Even if children have some unfamiliar words in the process of listening, it will not become a stumbling block for children to read and understand the article. Let the students guess and understand the words by themselves through vivid pictures, so as to understand the meaning of the article. Every child has a desire to express himself, and he strongly wants to get attention and praise from others. According to this psychological characteristic of children, we have done the second step of strengthening the interest in reading English picture books-the role-playing stage, which is also the stage of training children's oral English.

If you want to perform well, you must imitate the original English pronunciation and skills. Pupils are best at imitation. When everyone took turns imitating, almost everyone else could recite it. Then the teacher assigned the students to perform the role of picture books and put on homemade simple headdresses and ornaments. Through role-playing, the whole picture book story is interpreted in English, and a very beautiful picture book children's play is arranged.

Third, make up your own story ending

The value of children lies in their imagination. Only with imagination can they be creative. Imagination plays an important role in continuing to write picture books. Without imagination, it is impossible to continue to write a good ending, and the use of imagination is inseparable from life experience.

When teaching picture books, sometimes I subtract the original ending and let the children create their own ending. This link is the students' favorite. They plug in the wings of imagination and fly in their own fairy tale world.

In the lion & When the story of the mouse reached the penultimate slide, I asked, "What will happen next?"

The students had a heated discussion and scrambled to raise their hands to speak. A girl said:

Another boy said:

The students' speeches are varied, and some even tell robots. I praised them one by one. The correctness of the answer is not that important, and so is the grammatical error. As long as students are willing to use their brains to express loudly, it is obviously much more important than imparting knowledge. Picture book reading can achieve the purpose of speaking English through students' efficient reading.
