How to knit Chinese knots

Chinese knots are also unique hand-woven in China, and many small craftsmen like to make some traditional ropes. But traditional Chinese knots are more complicated, and there are many kinds of knots. I will introduce some common knots in China, hoping to help you who like to make small crafts.

Unidirectional flat knot

1. Put one line horizontally, then fold the other line in half and put it on it along the outer red line, as shown in the figure.

2. The foreign red line presses the yellow line to pick the green line, and the green line picks the yellow line to press the foreign red line out. Tighten the green line and the foreign red line with both hands to prevent the two lines from becoming slack. Then it is the same as the second step, or press the red line on the yellow line, pick the green line, and the green line picks the yellow line according to the red line and penetrates.

3. Tighten the green line and the foreign red line, as shown in Figure 3, and tie a tight knot. Repeat steps 2~5 and weave continuously, and the knot will naturally form a spiral shape, just like the picture.

Bidirectional flat knot

1. Cross and overlap the two lines as shown, and put the purple line and magenta line together. The purple line picks the red line and presses the yellow line, and the yellow line presses the red line to pick out the purple line.

2. Tighten the yellow and purple threads. The yellow line presses the outer red line to pick the purple line, and the purple line picks the outer red line to press the yellow line out, forming the situation as shown in the figure. Tighten the yellow and purple threads. Then, repeat steps 2~5 to weave a continuous bidirectional flat knot.
