Cangxi Ancient Village is one of the representative villages at the junction of Jiangxi and Anhui Province since the Song Dynasty and has a long history. A considerable number of ancient houses, buildings and streets can be seen everywhere in the village. During the Southern Song Dynasty, Zhu Hong, the 13th ancestor of Zhu Clan, had a close relationship with Zhu Xi of Wuyuan, so he introduced a series of Huizhou architectural constructions into the village, and from then on, he formed an architectural style imitating Huizhou style and featuring the characteristics of Furyang. In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, six tea houses in the village continued to develop and grow, and a large number of rich merchants emerged, which left behind many exquisite buildings with gorgeous decorations. Cangxi Ancient Village has a history of more than 1,700 years, in December 2013 was selected as one of the fifth batch of "China's famous historical and cultural towns and villages" list.

(1) Natural landscape: Cangxi is surrounded by mountains and water, with lush greenery. Outside the village, green mountains, smoke; village before the gurgling stream, bamboo shaking, a leisurely idyllic scenery. In and around the village, there are more than 2,000 ancient trees, including three thousand-year-old ginkgo trees called living fossils by the botanical world, which are full of leaves and fruits. The four-season golden laurel and the big acacia tree are natural barriers to prevent wind and gather qi, and to green the village. An ancient chinkapin tree in front of the village has a diameter of two meters, with branches expanding in all directions like a giant umbrella.

Cangxi has eight scenic spots in ancient times, and the ancients made eight scenic poems:

The two dragons play on the pearl wall, the immortal bridge pulse left punch;

Cave tip Yan Fu Xiu, two water together toward the east;

Side lake hanging spring peach, Gui Yan Yin Yue Gong;

Ping Dock hides 0, the beauty of the flower in the peak.

Cangxi is a unique village of southern farmhouses, where the ingenious historical buildings and the natural landscapes of Cangxi are intertwined with each other.

(2) Ancient villages: Cangxi Village has 187 existing buildings, of which 73 are well-preserved traditional buildings with a floor area of 7,150 square meters. Mainly Ming and Qing Dynasty Huizhou style buildings, so it is called "pocket Xidi".

Cangxi Village is surrounded by green hills and smog; in front of the village, the stream gurgles and flows around the village; inside the village, ancient trees cover the village, and the aroma of tea lingers on the nose. The whole village sits north to south, leaning against the mountains and the water, before the Zhuquiao after Xuanwu, this planning and siting absorbed the advantages of China's traditional village siting, planning and layout, disaster prevention and mitigation, etc., fully in line with the ancient feng shui theory of "pillows, surrounded by water, the face of the screen", reflecting the materialism of the unity of man and heaven. All the houses are built according to the terrain and follow the trend, reflecting the style of traditional Chinese mountain architecture that advocates nature.

The whole village seems like a leaf of bamboo raft, which is taken to mean that the two rivers meet and the raft is not flooded. Walking all the way from the river, looking up at the river-front buildings, the buildings are stacked, like floating sky, unique. Here, the Hui-style residential building style is very obvious: white walls, green bricks, gray tiles, green stone paving streets and lanes simple and clumsy, straight-line composition of horse-head walls undulating high and low. From afar, the roof is crisscrossed, rich and distinct levels, with a strong sense of rhythm. Although through the changes of the times and vicissitudes of life, has long lost its former glory, but the beautiful mountains and rivers, winding rivers and well-preserved residential compounds, beautifully decorated architectural art, so that the ancient village exudes a unique charm.

Besides the residential buildings in the village, there are also ancient pagodas, worship grounds, ancient pavilions, ancient ancestral halls, whose architectural features are either light and delicate, elegantly decorated; or tall and lofty, imposing; or ancient and full of air, with different styles.

Southern Song Dynasty, Zhu Hong and Wuyuan Zhu Xi interacted closely, so a series of Huizhou architectural construction was introduced, and from then on, the architectural style with Huizhou characteristics was formed, but there is a certain difference with Huizhou architecture, only in the top of the wall about one meter powdered white, the rest of the greenish-gray, and at the same time, the treatment of the horse-head wall is also different from Huizhou architecture.
