What is the meaning of turkey

Turkey (scientific name: Meleagris gallopavo): a bird of prey in the pheasant family, Turkey. Also known as spit-ribbon chicken. Body length 110-115 centimeters. Wingspan 125-144 cm, weight 2.5-10.8 kg. The head and neck are almost naked, with only sparse feathers and a red sarcoma down the throat. The wild turkey is native to North America, inhabiting temperate and subtropical forests, preferring waterfront woodlands, and living at altitudes between 300-2500 meters above sea level. Outside of the breeding season, males and females live separately.

Feeds on stems, leaves, seeds and fruits of plants, etc. It also eats insects, etc. and occasionally frogs and lizards. Has been domesticated into poultry. Turkey meat is tender and crisp, with a very strong wild flavor, high lean meat rate and rich protein content. Thanksgiving is a traditional holiday in Western countries, and "roast turkey" has become an indispensable specialty on the table.

Activities

Outside of the breeding season, males and females live separately, roosting in trees as high as possible. The temperament is docile and slow-moving. They will quickly run to a hidden place when frightened, and are strong fliers, able to fly 500-2000 meters away. Normally, they perch on the ground and cluck. Wild turkeys must be very careful in the face of many predators. This is why many turkeys sleep in trees that grow in water, as they are not easily approached from the ground. Turkeys are very heavy and have difficulty flying; they must run a few meters to take off. Young turkeys have even more difficulty and must fly from branch to branch to sleep in the top of the tree.
