Taicang Shaxi's Shaxi specialty

Lard popcorn candy

During Guangxu period (1900), Shen opened a "Dingshengxiang" bakery in Shaxi. The main products are peach slices, sesame cakes, fermented cakes and jiaozi with meat stuffing. The next year (190 1), inspired by popcorn, he created lard popcorn, which became a must in Taicang. Later, it became a good gift for Taicang people to visit relatives and friends. Since then, there have been pastry shops making rice candy in Shaxi, such as Ziyang Pavilion, but their taste is still "heyday fragrance".

Shaxi lard rice candy produced by Shaxi Dingshengxiang Bakery founded by Shen Man was once famous in Shaxi and Taicang. After liberation, Dingshengxiang was a public-private partnership and became a Shaxi pastry processing factory. After being laid off, Li Jianyong, an employee of Shaxi Winery, inherited the production skills of Zhou Genbao, the original director of Shaxi Pastry Factory, and made lard popcorn. However, lard popcorn is seasonal, generally from 10 to the end of the Spring Festival the following year; Limited by sales volume and time, Li Jianyong generally produces products according to the needs of ordering.
