Traditional industry pk Internet giant, where to go?
Friends in the media and film industry, whether you are a fresh graduate who is choosing a career path or an old professional who has just finished the year-end bonus and is planning to "jump ship", welcome to come in and discuss together. Will you choose traditional media or internet giants next?
If this question had been put ten years ago, and we could have foreseen the ten years of vigorous development of the Internet, I would have told you categorically that I would go to the Internet. And if the time is reversed again, it will be pushed back to 20 years ago, that is, 2000. At that time, it was golden decade of China TV. If there is an opportunity, I will certainly go to the TV station to develop. That's the exit for the media.
So, how should we choose now? Of course, I think there will still be many people who have this kind of thinking inertia. They believe that traditional media is already a sunset industry, and some paper media and TV stations are declining. Internet giants and some newer companies are sunrise industries. Is that really the case?
I think it is divided into several situations. First, if you are a veteran in the workplace, or have worked for several years, of course, it depends on your own situation and which field your experience value and your fitness are more suitable for.
But if you are in the second situation, that is, a newcomer who is about to graduate or just graduated, then I sincerely suggest that you work in traditional media or a relatively traditional big company for a few years. Why do you say that?
The first reason is that traditional media, especially some official media, will gain more standardized and sensitive values and news views under the training of this regular army.
Since the beginning of this year, I believe everyone has seen that the anti-monopoly of the Internet, the layoffs of large factories and the earth-shaking adjustment of the entire entertainment industry all come from policies. I believe that if you have not been trained by the regular army, your grasp of many things is not so accurate. Even if you still want to enter the internet or media industry in the future, it is not a bad thing to have such experience and several years of training.
The second reason is that the production of content is likely to return to the traditional track in the next decade. Of course, this does not mean that it is limited to traditional platforms. The Internet platform is still a blue ocean, but the direction of content must be more inclined to return.
What is this concept? Even those short routine videos that are eye-catching, only have traffic and no dry goods will gradually be replaced by refined videos. Therefore, if you want to be a content creator, it is also a foolproof choice to choose traditional media for your first job and exercise your solid creative basic skills.
In short, no matter how you choose, remember that there are no shortcuts in the world, and build your own output skills in a down-to-earth manner. No matter where you are, it will be a blue ocean.
