What's the difference between ooze and clay?

What's the difference between colored mud, clay and soft pottery?

Colored clay is plasticine. When it is ready, it should be baked in the oven. Plaster is cheap and suitable for children.

What's the difference between ooze and clay?

Soft pottery is oily, hard to handle, bright in color and heavy, and can only be shaped in the oven after molding. The finished product has a slight luster and is not resistant to falling.

There are many kinds of clay. I have used paper clay and ultra-light soil. Paper clay will get all over my hands, and it is fragile and perishable. Not recommended. Ultra-light soil is light, water-based, soft to the touch and pink in color. You can buy all kinds of colors or white directly, color yourself with propylene, and air-dry naturally after setting. The finished product is not very reflective. If you want to reflect light, you can polish it with varnish or nail polish or varnish, which is very elastic and will not be fragile if you accidentally drop it.

It is best to use soft clay for DIY dolls, because the clay is too soft. Both can be used for cartoon dolls and gadgets. However, if you want to make necklaces or bracelets, you should still use soft pottery, because it will sweat and the clay will melt a little when it is in contact with water for a long time. But if you want to make earrings, you should still use ultra-light clay, which is light in weight.

What's the difference between soft clay and ordinary clay?

Baking setting method:

Put the molded articles into the oven, set the baking temperature to100-10 degrees Celsius, and bake for 10-30 minutes (depending on the volume of the articles). Do not open the oven door immediately, and open the door to take out the articles when the oven temperature naturally drops to room temperature.

Note: If the oven door is opened immediately after baking, cold air will quickly enter the oven, resulting in excessive temperature difference between the inside and outside of the article and easy to crack. We must follow the principle of "slowly heating up and slowly cooling down". When stacked articles need to be baked, it is suggested to put several layers of paper between articles and above and below, which can facilitate the better flow and even heating of hot air. The baking temperature should not exceed 65438 030℃. If the temperature is too high (above 150), the paper in the furnace may be ignited, the soft pottery products will zoom or melt, and harmful gases will be released.

Baking method of soft pottery:

Soft pottery works must be baked in a baking box after modeling is completed, which has a direct impact on soft pottery works.

Two elements of soft pottery firing: (1) time (2) temperature, both of which must be controlled in an ideal state in order to fire perfect soft pottery works.

① Time factor: There should be enough baking time for baking soft pottery works, otherwise the works can't be completely baked, which will cause the surface to crack and deform easily. In principle, the thickness of 1/4 inch (about 6.4mm) needs baking for 15 minutes, and the thickness of 1/2 inch (about 12.7mm) needs baking for 30 minutes. Generally speaking, harder mud needs longer baking time; Softer mud needs shorter baking time. It must be especially noted that the baking time refers to the time from the oven reaching the predetermined temperature to the end of baking. If the oven is not preheated in advance, then the baking time plus preheating time is the correct baking time. It usually takes ten minutes to preheat the oven. Readers are advised to classify works of different sizes and thicknesses and bake works of the same thickness together. When making large-size soft pottery works, it is best to make the inner embryo with aluminum foil first, so as to reduce the real thickness of the works and shorten the baking time.

② Temperature factor: Soft pottery works should be baked at a suitable baking temperature. If the temperature is too low, the work can not reach the ideal hardness and elasticity, and it is easy to be damaged. Excessive temperature will make the surface of the work black or even melt and deform. The baking temperature of all soft pottery works is130 C/275 F, which should not exceed145 C. Readers are advised to put a tile or glass sheet (aluminum foil is not allowed) when baking soft pottery works, and heat it up slightly 5 minutes before baking. Using this baking method with short time and slightly higher temperature can make the surface of soft pottery works slightly shiny. If this baking is repeated, the effect will be better.

Note: This may be because ovens and clay in Taiwan Province Province are somewhat different from those in China. Through our experiments, the soft clay works with a thickness of 2CM can be molded at the temperature of 100℃ for about 10 minutes. Take it out after cooling. If you feel soft, you can continue baking for a few minutes. Too high temperature or too long time may scorch and crack soft clay.

Beginners can tentatively bake for 5 minutes in two stages. When the oven can't set the temperature, divide it into 2-3 portions based on the principle of 3-5 minutes. Three, steaming setting method:

Put the molded articles on the steamer, inject cold water, as long as the bottom of the pot is not dry, heat it to boiling with low fire, keep boiling for 10-20 minutes (depending on the volume of the articles), turn off the fire, and take out the articles after the water temperature cools naturally.

Note: It is best to use pure water. Tap water contains calcium carbonate, which may "frost" the surface of the article; Slow fire must be used during the whole setting process. Because the temperature difference between inside and outside is too large, the fire will cause the articles to break. Need to slowly heat up and cool down. The hardness after molding is not ideal. You can use a hair dryer to blow until the hardness reaches your favorite level.

Suggestions before using soft pottery.

1, soft pottery, please wash your hands before using, and keep the original color of soft pottery.

2, you can paint some hand protection boxes, so that soft pottery is not easy to stick to your hands and easy to make.

3. When using polymer clay, the colors should go from shallow to deep one by one, so as not to stain the light colors;

4. Polymer clay should be fully kneaded before molding, which makes it easier to mold the work. However, when the clay feels soft or sticky during kneading, you can add some talcum powder or talcum powder; Also want to ......

What's the difference between ooze and clay?

Clay includes ultra-light clay and stone powder clay. Soft pottery needs an oven to make it very fine. Ultra-light clay is not that fine, but it is cheap and dries quickly. You can do some q-graphs. Stone powder clay needs a lot of materials, and the price is a little expensive, but it is better to make some models.

What's the difference between handmade paper mud and soft pottery?

The specific gravity of paper clay is small, generally 0.25~0.28, because of its large expansion volume. The weight of the dried work is 1/4 of that before drying, which is extremely light and not fragile. This is called ultra-light clay for short. Soft pottery is similar to plasticine, and playing with it before baking has many similarities with plasticine. Soft pottery is similar in shape to hard pottery, heavier than paper clay and will not shrink and deform.

What's the difference between dough sculpture and soft pottery?

Soft digging is mud. Mud has no elasticity. The surface is elastic, but harder than the surface, and the shape can be thinner. Dough is similar to plasticine, which is used by dough kneader. If you want to carve or shape, you must use finely carved sludge or clay. There are also paper clay, AB mixed clay and so on, and there are many foreign brands. I didn't know what it felt like until I used it, but I couldn't say clearly.

What's the difference between soft ceramics and traditional ceramics?

Ever heard of PVC? After sufficient heating and drying, soft pottery is actually PVC plastic.

It's totally different from traditional ceramics. Ceramics can't be burned, but plastics will!

Soft pottery is called ceramics, but it has the same plasticity without the properties of ceramics.

Even if you heat it, it feels soft. You heated those plasticizers.

Pay attention to safety, not suitable for food contact. Actually, I also suggest that you do a good job of ventilation.

Made a lot of soft pottery works, haha, talk to you later.

What is the difference between ultra-light clay and plasticine?

There is still a big difference in the calculation.

Ultra-light clay is lighter than plasticine, and I personally think it is more malleable. Works made of plasticine can't be kept for a long time, and they will crack and be damaged. Ultra-light clay can be preserved for a long time after drying and setting, but it is also afraid of sharp tools and humid environment. Both of them are now very rich in color development, and they can also mix colors at will. Personally, I think ultra-light clay is more delicate, more viscous and more plastic than plasticine, but it is easy to get dust and difficult to separate after getting dirty, and plasticine has more relaxed requirements on the environment.

If you want to do it by hand, I personally recommend ultra-light clay. At present, the cost performance in China is quite high, but pay attention to avoid dust when using it.
