What flower is this common in southern Fujian?
Also known as five-color plum, smelly grass and ruyi grass. It belongs to Verbenaceae, a perennial erect or semi-liana shrub with square stems and branches. Wild species usually have spines that bend downward, while cultivated species have no spines. The single leaf is opposite, with wrinkles, strong smell after kneading, oval, tapering at the top, round at the base, rough abdomen, thick legs and short bristles on the back. Umbrella consists of more than 20 small flowers. The total pedicel is stout, usually longer than the petiole, and the bracts are acicular. It blooms in summer and autumn, and it is red and yellow. The pulp is spherical at the bottom and purple-black at maturity.
