Traditional seating etiquette

1

Seating arrangements for family gatherings

The seats on the wine table at family gatherings are generally sorted by seniority and age. In other words, no matter who invites you, the oldest or oldest person should sit in the most conspicuous position facing the door; Next, you can arrange them one by one according to seniority or age. Sometimes we have to arrange the children that the elderly like next to their elders, usually the next generation.

If the elders treat guests, they may assign a person to sit by the door and be responsible for all kinds of entertainment; If it is the younger generation's treat, the treat will naturally sit by the door.

Seating arrangements for friends' parties

Generally speaking, the seat on the wine table for friends, classmates, comrades-in-arms and other parties is the one facing the door, which is also called "sitting east" or "manor owner" Sometimes the owner of the manor may give this seat to someone with higher status or reputation, and the rest can be arranged in chronological order. Because they are all friends, sometimes they don't care about these. It doesn't matter who sits there, but others won't sit in the host's position.

Seating arrangements for receiving guests

Reception of guests belongs to the diplomatic category, and there may be more seats on the wine table. Generally speaking, the reception of guests is mainly divided into host and guest. If it is a private room, the seat facing the door is the host, that is, the host's home, that is, the host who treats guests.

All the guests are seated. On the right hand side of the host is the guest of honor, the protagonist of tonight's banquet, and on the left hand side is the deputy guest. If the host is not very familiar with the banquet, there must be someone who is familiar with the host, and he will ask this person to arrange the position of the main guest and the deputy guest. After the general guests are seated, other guests will be arranged to follow.

The assistant sat opposite the main guard. The assistant sitting on the right is called three guests, and the assistant sitting on the left is called four guests.
