What is a supramolecule, explain the method and principle of splitting supramolecule
Molecular recognition is one of the core research contents of supramolecular chemistry. The so-called molecular recognition refers to the process in which the subject (receptor) selectively binds to the object (substrate) and produces a specific function. This binding does not rely on the traditional *** valence building forces, but on intermolecular forces known as non-*** valence bonds, such as van der Waals forces, hydrophobic interactions and hydrogen bonds. This is actually a lock-and-key principle. In most cases, a larger number of intermolecular interactions are formed between the receptor and the substrate, and the sum and synergy of several intermolecular forces and have a certain directionality and selectivity, and the total binding force is no less than the strength of the chemical bond. It is this synergy and directionality of weak intermolecular interactions that determines the selective recognition of supramolecules.
