Appreciation of Zhu Da's Flower Roll Works in Qing Dynasty

Zhu Da's Flower Roll on the River, with its dense composition, is true and false, which forms a perfect artistic whole with his own poem and calligraphy of Flower Song on the River. The beginning of the picture scroll is full of lotus flowers, either in full bloom or in bud, hidden in the pitching lotus leaves. Lotus stems are round and tall, swaying in the wind and colorful. Sweeping flowers and leaves with a splash-ink bald pen is free and easy, dripping with ink, thick and moist, and full of layers, which fully embodies the characteristics of five colors of Chinese painting ink and shows the ingenuity of the author in using ink and water. The petals are outlined with a fine pen, which are round, full of vitality and interesting.

In the second half of the picture scroll, the inclined stones and flowing water are emphasized, and the pen is superb. The thickness, straightness, rigidity and softness are just right. Brush with light ink and moss with thick ink. The brushwork is ups and downs, dignified and vigorous, and the pen and ink are moist and elegant. The whole picture is magnificent, magnificent and fascinating, which is a rare masterpiece in Zhu Da's freehand flower-and-bird painting.

This poem, book, painting and printing are all excellent. It is the most representative work of freehand brushwork in ink and wash, and also the most exquisite painting in Zhu Da.
