Reasons for the extinction of the Indians
The Indians did not perish.
The Indians were persecuted for a long time by massacres, sieges, expulsions, forced removals, and other persecutions, and their numbers declined sharply. By the early 1900s, just over 300,000 remained. It wasn't until 1924 that the U.S. Congress passed the Indian Citizenship Act, declaring anyone born within the United States a U.S. citizen.
In 1934, the U.S. passed the Indian Reorganization Act under President Roosevelt's "New Deal," allowing Indians to establish their own government, no longer allocating land on reservations, and stopping the policy of forcing Indians to give up their traditional cultures and religions, so the situation of Indians improved. It was only then that they were not exterminated.
