Survey on Foreign Slaves

In 1999, Dr. Teo Hon-yin of the Singapore Morning Post conducted a survey on cultural values, in which he found that nearly one-fourth of Singaporean Chinese students did not want to be Chinese in the next life, and this caused a slight shock to the public opinion, with 11.8% wanting to be foreigners and 8.2% wanting to be Japanese. At the same time, the report also suggested that this is not only a problem of Chinese ethnic identity or a psychological problem of pandering to foreigners, but also a problem of how to be an upright, self-respecting and self-confident person who is not overbearing and not inferior, which is considered to be a result of foreign influences, resulting in the fact that some of the Chinese are not educated and nurtured to be Chinese from the time they come out of their mothers' wombs, but only retain their Chinese names. In addition, Yan Mengda also suggested that Chinese people taking foreign names is really remarkable, saying that giving up the original name to take a foreign name, hands and feet are immersed in the "foreign culture" and confused, although the body is Chinese, but the heart is already non-Chinese, in this life has been "chosen", the next life of the "choice" nature. The "choice" in the next life is naturally self-evident. The report also suggests that Singaporeans are ignorant in the first place. Many Singaporean Chinese have limited knowledge of Chinese culture and history, and therefore cannot build up the self-esteem and self-confidence of being Chinese. However, since the ancient times is not consistent with the facts, the Chinese traditionally is "noble Chinese, cheap barbarians", can only say that some period of time some people have pandering to foreign mentality.
