There are several levels of autonomous driving technology.
In recent years, autonomous driving technology has become one of the hot topics in artificial intelligence and automobile industry. Autopilot technology is constantly updated and iterated. At present, there are many levels to organize and describe the different stages of autonomous driving technology. These levels will be explained in detail below.
1 0 autopilot: completely controlled by human beings.
Level 0 autonomous driving is a traditional car, which is completely driven by human beings. There is no automatic auxiliary equipment. All operations and controls are completed by the driver, including clutch, brake and throttle control. This kind of vehicle is not within the scope of autonomous driving technology.
2. 1 autopilot: driver assistance system
The first level of autonomous driving technology is to give the vehicle some driving tasks. At first, these systems mainly cooperated with drivers to help them master auxiliary functions based on sensors and software. This level of autopilot is the lowest level, which can achieve a single task, such as automatic braking and cruise control.
Level 3 and Level 2 autopilot: partially automated.
The second-level autonomous driving technology allows the vehicle to complete specific control functions and automatically perform work under specific conditions. For example, on the expressway, a class 2 self-driving car can automatically brake and accelerate, and it can also keep a certain distance in the middle of the same lane, making the operation easier.
Level 4 and 3 Autopilot: Conditional Automation
The 3-level automatic driving system gives more driving functions to vehicles, and the degree of automation of this mode is constantly improving, representing more physical world perception.
Different from the previous levels, the three-level autopilot can operate independently under certain conditions, including normal driving conditions, such as driving on expressway. However, if there are problems, such as construction sections or road defects, the driver needs to take over the control again. Therefore, multiple sensors and high-precision maps are also needed.
Level 5 and 4 automatic driving: highly automated.
The fourth-level automatic driving system can provide more autonomy and independent operation ability. In most cases, these vehicles can complete the driving task independently and run without human intervention.
Under some specific conditions, some specific tasks can be completed, such as getting to the destination from a fixed place, but the four-level autopilot model can not run independently in all cases, and in some cases, the driver still needs to take over the control.
6, 5 automatic driving: fully automatic.
The fifth automatic driving system is fully automatic driving technology. This kind of vehicle can be out of control without any human intervention and can run in any complex scene. This kind of car can undoubtedly complete all driving tasks independently under any circumstances.
