Why does China have to focus on manufacturing?

Manufacturing industry is the material basis of the national economy and the main body of industrialization, and it is the foundation of social progress and enriching the people and strengthening the country. Any big country regards the development and upgrading of equipment manufacturing industry as its national strategy for its own development and security. Highly developed equipment manufacturing industry is a necessary condition for industrialization and an important symbol of a country's comprehensive competitiveness. Manufacturing has at least five functions in China at this stage: the first is the engine of our country's rapid economic growth; The second is to promote the basic industries of national economy and social informatization; Third, an important carrier of scientific and technological innovation; The fourth is the main department of labor and employment; Finally, it is also a basic guarantee of national security.

Development status of manufacturing industry in China. Since the reform and opening up 25 years ago, China's manufacturing industry has achieved rapid growth. Its motivation comes from two aspects: one is strong domestic demand, which is the demand of domestic capital construction and infrastructure construction, the demand of improving people's living standards and the demand of international industrial transfer. China's manufacturing industry has always accounted for a relatively high proportion of GDP, because we are now in the middle of industrialization, the United States is the largest manufacturing country in the world, followed by Japan, and China surpassed Germany in 2003. It can be seen that although the service industry in the United States has exceeded 80%, it is still the strongest manufacturing country in the world. It can be seen that the manufacturing industry, especially the equipment manufacturing industry, has always grown at a rate higher than GDP, and has become the largest industry in China and an important part of the national economy. The composition of our country's manufacturing industry is divided into three parts: one is 17 industry, and the five industries are light industry, textile industry and daily necessities manufacturing industry, accounting for about 30.24% of the manufacturing industry; The second is five industries, mainly resource processing, including petrochemical, rubber, nonmetal and metal smelting, accounting for about 33%, which is one-third of the added value of our entire manufacturing industry; The third is the mechanical and electronic manufacturing industry, a little more, a little more than one third, about 35%, so the composition of the three blocks is about this. Light industry accounts for slightly less than one-third, resource processing industry accounts for one-third, electromechanical processing products account for more than one-third, which was 36% in 2002, and others accounted for 3 1%. We can generally say that all products produced by resource processing industry are used in China, including steel, nonferrous metals, petroleum processing and other products are used in China. About half or less of the products of light industry, machinery and electromechanical industry are exported, mainly to meet domestic demand.
