China's fine arts films began in the early 1920s. The Wan brothers filmed the earliest cartoons of China in Shanghai, among which the feature film Princess Iron Fan had the greatest influence. The period from the establishment of the factory to the "ten-year turmoil" (1957- 1966) is the heyday of fine arts films, with various forms. The artistic features of art films have been fully exerted, and the national style has become more mature and perfect. It has produced a batch of works that are still the best in the history of China fine arts films, and gained a good reputation at home and abroad. Premier Zhou Enlai pointed out before his death that the Fine Arts Film Department is an excellent and stylish department in China film industry. 1958 added a new variety-paper-cutting, and the first work "Pig Eight Rings Eat Watermelon" was a success. Because of its distinctive folk art characteristics, it is deeply loved by people and opens up a new road for the development of paper-cutting art. 1960 created an ink cartoon, which combined elegant China ink painting with animated films to form the most artistic style with China characteristics. With their beautiful pictures and poetic artistic conception, they make animation art enter a higher aesthetic realm, which is refreshing.
