What was the name of ancient Chinese Valentine's Day?
The seventh day of the seventh lunar month is China's Valentine's Day, also known as Begging for Cleverness Festival and Seven Clever Days. Qixi, which started in Han Dynasty, is a traditional cultural festival in China.
It originated from the worship of nature and women's needlework, and was later endowed with the legend of Cowherd and Weaver Girl, making it a festival symbolizing love.
Valentine's Day in China originated from the folk story "Cowherd and Weaver Girl". Legend has it that the annual meeting of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl on the Magpie Bridge is on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, and because the Weaver Girl has a pair of skillful hands that can weave clouds, the folk girls hope to see the aura of the Weaver Girl, so they "seek cleverness" on the Tanabata of that day. To this day, Tanabata is still a traditional festival full of romance.
Viet Nam influenced by Chinese Valentine's Day;
In Viet Nam, the main way to celebrate Tanabata is China people, and Tanabata has its own name-"Cow, Cow and Woman Day".
On this day, people will make wishes in the temple. The tributes used by Chinese in Ho Chi Minh City to worship Tanabata are mainly the customs in southern China, including water chestnut, chess cake, money cake and peanuts, as well as "Yang He" and "Qi Jiepan" which are closely related to the legend of "Cowherd and Weaver Girl". The young people who participated in the activity also wrote their expectations for love on a piece of paper, wishing the future family happiness.
Tanabata: July 7th, called "Seven Sisters's Birthday". Because the sacrificial ceremony was held on the seventh day of July (in the evening, it was called "evening" in ancient times), it was called Tanabata, which was for cowherd and weaver girl.
