It is one of the black-and-white traditional games that originated in ancient China. It is possible that the game of backgammon has been played in folklore long before "Yao made Go". There are also legends that backgammon originated from Go and was first popularized in ethnic minority areas. It is not clear when and how the game spread abroad. It was introduced to Korea and Japan during the Northern and Southern Dynasties of China along with Go. According to Japanese historical documents, ancient Chinese backgammon was first introduced from China to Goryeo (Korea), and then from Goryeo to Japan during the Genroku era in Japan from 1688 to 1704 AD. It was only in 1899 that the name "Lianzhu" was formalized after a public call for names in the 32nd year of the Meiji era in Japan. Since then, the game has undergone continuous improvement, mainly through changes in the rules. On August 8, 1988, the Rendezvous International Federation (RIF) was founded in Sweden by nine member countries: Japan, Russia, Sweden, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, France, Latvia and Belarus. Basic Play Backgammon is a competitive sport played by two players against each other. At the beginning of the game, the black player places a disc on a tian yuan point; the white player then places discs on the intersections around the black discs, but, as a matter of respect and courtesy, the white player usually places the second move of the board on his or her side of the river border, i.e., straight or diagonally. Thereafter, the black player places the third move of the board within the range of 25 intersections centered on Tianyuan. White then responds, i.e., with the fourth move on the board, and so on until one side first forms five or more consecutive moves on the straight, horizontal or diagonal lines of the board (in professional Lianzhu, only White can win with more than five moves), and then that side is considered to have won the game. However, one of the characteristics of professional Lianzhu backgammon is that the first player to move has a great advantage, so in professional games there are various restrictions on Black to facilitate fair play. The outcome of the game must be decided according to the requirements of the rules of professional backgammon.
