What are the advantages and disadvantages of anaerobic biological treatment technology?
Aerobic biological treatment is a stable and harmless treatment method for aerobic microorganisms to degrade organic matter in the presence of free oxygen (molecular oxygen). Its advantages are high reaction speed, short retention time of wastewater and small volume of treatment structure. Less odor is emitted during treatment; Biodegradable organic matter is completely decomposed, but the disadvantages are low removal rate of refractory organic matter, more sludge than anaerobic treatment, higher operating cost and so on.
Anaerobic biological treatment is to convert most organic matter into simple small molecular organic matter and methane and other inorganic matter under the action of anaerobic bacteria and facultative anaerobic bacteria, thus purifying sewage. Its advantages are high organic matter removal rate, less sludge and low operating cost. Disadvantages are long retention time of wastewater, incomplete decomposition of organic matter and more odor generation.
