What are the fastest planes?

The top ten fastest airplanes in the world are as follows:

1.Falcon HTV-2 supersonic vehicle

This type of aircraft is well-known for its flight speed of 20 times the speed of sound (6805m/s). It can fly from Paris to Dakar, the capital of Senegal, in 13 minutes. Unfortunately, on its maiden voyage in 2010, the U.S. military lost control of the aircraft nine minutes into the flight and forcibly guided the aircraft into the Pacific Ocean. Only two aircraft of this type were produced.

2.X-43A hypersonic aircraft

On October 6, 2004, this type of aircraft broke the world's flight speed: its maximum flight speed was 1.11440,000 kilometers per hour. Currently, there are only three aircraft of this type in the world.

3. Boeing X-51 (Waverider)

This is an unmanned supersonic aircraft equipped with a jet engine. The Boeing X51 made its first flight on May 26, 2010. During the test flight, its flight speed only reached 6,200 kilometers per hour, which was far behind the predicted 8,575 kilometers per hour. The aircraft is still in the experimental stage.

4.X-15 testing machine

This is an American-made rocket-powered aircraft. The aircraft is used for ultra-high-speed and ultra-high-altitude surveys. The first flight took place on June 8, 1959, and its flight speed could reach 7273 kilometers per hour. There are currently three test machines.

5.SR-71 Blackbird strategic reconnaissance aircraft

This type of reconnaissance aircraft was designed by the US military more than 50 years ago and made its first flight on February 22, 1964. Between 1968 and 1990, only 32 aircraft of this type were produced.

6. MiG-25 fighter jet (Foxbat)

The MiG-25 fighter jet is a fighter and reconnaissance aircraft designed by the Soviet Union. It first flew on March 6, 1964. It is the first aircraft in the world that can fly at 3 times the speed of sound (1020m/s). At that time, only 1186 aircraft of this type were manufactured.

7. Bell X-2 testing machine

This model was produced by Bell Aircraft Company and made its maiden flight on 11 month 19, 1955. The cruising speed is 3370 kilometers per hour. ***Produced two aircraft, both were destroyed in aviation accidents.

8.XB-70 bomber (Valkyrie)

This type of aircraft was designed in the late 1950s. As a supersonic bomber, its flight speed can reach up to 3275 kilometers per hour. The first flight took place on September 20, 1964. Only two of this aircraft were produced, one of which was destroyed in an accident in 1966.

9. MiG-31 fighter

This type of Russian fighter was designed in the 1980s and made its first flight on September 16, 1975. Its cruising speed can reach 3,250 kilometers per hour. There are currently over 500 of them worldwide.

10.F-15 fighter

This type of fighter was designed in the 1970s and is mainly used by the U.S. Air Force. It first flew on July 27, 1972, with a flight speed of up to 2,660 kilometers per hour. There are currently 1300 fighter jets of this type in the world.
