Xiamen Gulangyu specialty

There are also specialties such as Gulangyu School and Xiamen Lacquer Line Carving.

1 Gulangyu Pie: It is one of the traditional cakes in Xiamen and one of the most distinctive and influential traditional foods in Xiamen. Gulangyu pie is made of high-quality flour, lard and first-class mung beans, and has a history of 100 years. Its outer layer is brittle and its inside is full of stuffing. It has many flavors, both sweet and salty. Gulangyu pie is thinner than moon cakes, with crispy outer layer and much stuffing inside, which is a food that Xiamen people are proud of. Gulangyu pie is eaten while it is hot, whether as a snack or breakfast. With a gentle bite, the crispy skin will fall off and the taste is really beautiful.

2. Lacquer line carving in Xiamen: Lacquer line carving is the longest handicraft in Xiamen, Fujian. As early as hundreds of years ago, Xiamen lacquered line carving was well-known at home and abroad and sold well in Southeast Asian countries. Lacquer line carving uses fine lacquer lines, winding magnificent buildings, lifelike figures and clothing patterns, and special production methods, especially traditional folk themes, such as dragons and phoenixes, unicorns, clouds and water, lotus branches and so on. In the past, lacquer line carvings were mostly decorated on wooden objects, lacquer baskets and theatrical props, but in recent years they have developed into decorative porcelain.
