Fujian Opera, which originated in Fujian and Fujian, is generally called "Fuqing Opera" and is one of the main operas in Fujian Province. It is popular in Fuzhou and Fuzhou dialect areas such as central Fujian, eastern Fujian and northern Fujian, as well as Taiwan Province Province and Nanyang. During the Tang Dynasty, there were song and dance performances in Fuzhou. Zhang Xie, the champion of Southern Opera in Southern Song Dynasty, adopted Fuzhou folk songs and Fuqing songs as qupai. In the Ming Dynasty, Kunshan dialect and Yiyang dialect were introduced into Fuzhou, and Fuzhou dialect opera gradually rose. From the early years of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty to around the Revolution of 1911, the Confucian class, Jianghu class and Pingjiang class in Fuzhou began to absorb music vocals and performing arts from each other, transplant and stage plays from each other, infiltrate each other, and integrate into one, thus developing into a "Fujian class". 1924, Mr. Zheng Zhenduo sent Yu Zi Chai to the Commercial Press for publication, and the book officially replaced the old name of "Min Ban" with "Min Opera".

After the Revolution of 1911, Fujian Opera entered a period of prosperity, with the emergence of "Three Musics (Old Music, New Music and Three Musics), One Flag (Good Legend) and Two Sheep (Natural Music and Lele)", and the emergence of "Four Great Talents" such as Zheng, Zeng, Xue and Ma Qiufan, Chen Zhiqing, Fu Yinong and Huang. Wu Sheng Chen Chunxuan (stage name "Ke Ge") absorbed the skills of Beijing opera martial arts and created a unique set of martial arts. The representative work Eight Hammer was made into a silent film by Fujian People's Education Center 1934. Chen Chunxuan plays, Tang Xiushan plays Jin Wushu, Yue Fei, Wu Chou Cheng Libin plays the groom, and Lin Ganshan, Lin, Lin Houlai plays the Four Hammer General. At that time, clubs such as Old Saile, New Saile, Three Saile and New Guofeng also went to Taiwan Province Province, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and other places to perform, which was very popular.

In 1930s, Wen Yi Bookstore published many songs of Fujian Opera, and EMI, Gaoting and Lianxing recorded many records of Fujian Opera. After the "July 7th Incident", Fujian opera performances on the stage in Fuzhou surged. First of all, the playwright took a pen as a sword and wrote costume dramas praising patriotism and fashion dramas exposing Japanese atrocities. There are playwright Lin Shuqian's one-act drama Spitfire Mouth, Poison and three-act drama War, as well as Fujian's large-scale drama Si Er Pavilion. Zheng Ruqiu's heroic sacrifice and men in black; Yan Tianduo's Ma Zhanshan, Glowing Cup and National Shame; Lin Fei's Elephant Garden and Golden Gate Bridge. At that time, Chen Chunxuan's Eight Hammers, Huang's Qi Jiguang, Chen Xingfen, Lin Ganshan, Xiao and Huang's Night Lamp Cup caused a sensation in Rongcheng. Zheng, "Fujian Mei Lanfang" and Jin Xiangting, a famous watch director and artist, were hired to teach actresses in Fuzhou Fujian Drama Club, and Jin Gulan sang "Hate Lotus" and "Drunk Life and Dream Death". Every memorial day and garden party, they all perform in the auditorium of the Freshmen Promotion Association, donate warm clothes, and also perform for the Fuzhou Anti-Japanese Association on the new stage. Huang was also invited to the Union University to direct the drama "To the People" for teachers and students. Xu Shengchen sang an aria of Lugouqiao Incident in the performance of Burning Camp. Zhan Chuanshun, a martial artist, is known as the Monkey King of Fujian Opera. When he performed Shaolin Temple, there was a recital to promote patriotism and love for the people, and March of the Volunteers's melody was also used as a chorus. The famous actress Li Xiaobai sang an anti-Japanese song "On the Songhua River" on the stage every time she performed a play. Famous and ugly forest? Ren and Shi Wushi also jointly performed "Current Affairs in Fuzhou", which exposed the crime of Japanese aggressor troops bombing Wangzhuang in Fuzhou and caused a sensation in Fuzhou.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Fujian Opera was reborn. 1952 "the wind on the hairpin flowers" (giving the hairpin flowers as a farewell mourning) participated in the first national opera viewing conference. Most of the qupai of Fujian Opera evolved from Yiyang Opera, Siping Opera, Huizhou Opera and Kunqu Opera, and many vocals still retain the characteristics of Yiyang Opera, that is, "singing in harmony" and "living together".

There were only three roles in the early Fujian opera, namely, life, Dan and ugliness, commonly known as "three plays". Later, it absorbed the branches of Huiban and Peking Opera, and its role gradually became complete.

There are more than 1000 kinds of traditional plays in Fujian opera, most of which are based on folklore, historical romance or ancient legends and zaju. Traditional repertoires such as Lian Yin, Zi Yuchai and Litchi for Peach Blossom, from 1953 to 1964, Fuzhou Fujian Opera Circle created and arranged Litchi for Peach Blossom, Chen Killing Prince, Double Jade Cicada, Candles in Yishunge and Candles in Yishunge.
