Why do you want to eat oily eggs?

In ancient times, due to the backward traffic and the occlusion of information, various customs were circulated among the people in China, and different festivals and solar terms all had their own local customs, which were eye-opening for both diet and activities. Eating eggs during the solar term is a very interesting phenomenon.

China's traditional calendar divides a year into four seasons and 24 solar terms. The four seasons are spring, summer, autumn and winter, while the solar terms are beginning of spring, Qingming, beginning of autumn and Solstice. Sting is one of the solar terms in spring and one of the 24 solar terms, usually on March 5, 6 or 7 in the solar calendar. Literally, "sting" means hibernating, and "startled sting" means that the creatures dormant in the soil begin to emerge.

As soon as the creatures were unearthed, they began to feed. According to Guangdong legend, the white tiger, one of the evil spirits, also came out for food at this time. In ancient agricultural society, tigers were common. For the sake of safety, people sacrifice to the white tiger on the day of fright, which is the origin of sacrificing to the white tiger.

Maybe it has something to do with the legend of Guangdong. It is said that in the early years, most believers in Singapore were Cantonese, but now this has become a tradition followed by people of different backgrounds, and even some Indian compatriots have followed suit. Due to the widespread worship of fright, many temples have now set up lower altars to worship white tigers for the convenience of believers.

This sacrificial white tiger (statue) usually opens its mouth with fangs. Believers believe that it can't open its mouth to hurt people by wiping its mouth with lard during sacrifice; Feed the eggs, and the white tiger won't hurt anyone. Traditionally, eggs must be duck eggs. Duck eggs are hard to find now, so we have to ask the tiger to make do and eat eggs instead.
