Legal analysis: Community correction in China refers to the non-custodial corrective punishment or test (probation) for four kinds of objects sentenced to control, probation, parole and temporary execution outside prison.

Legal basis: People's Republic of China (PRC) Community Correction Law.

Article 2 A criminal sentenced to public surveillance, probation, parole or temporary execution outside prison shall be subject to community correction according to law.

This Law shall apply to the supervision and management of community correction objects, education aid and other activities.

Article 3 The community correction work shall adhere to the combination of supervision and management with education aid, and the combination of specialized institutions and social forces, and adopt classified management and individualized correction, so as to eliminate the factors that may cause the community correction objects to commit crimes again and help them become law-abiding citizens.

Article 4 The object of community correction shall accept community correction according to law and accept supervision and management.

Community correction should be carried out according to law, and human rights should be respected and guaranteed. The personal rights, property rights and other rights enjoyed by community correction objects according to law are inviolable, and they are not discriminated against in employment, schooling and social security.
